Is the ICS update all about money?

Could the problem with the Rezound ICS update be all about money and HTC not wanting to pay Verizon to send it out over the air?

Interesting question. I don't ever recall seeing anyone hypothesize that VZW might charge for the bandwidth of sending out an update OTA. Wish I could find sales figures regarding the number of Rezounds purchased. I assume this update should be around 200mb-300mb per active Rezound, so it certainly could put stress on VZW's network.

in a way yes, but not as you are thinking. The money aspect comes into play that the rex is good and with ICS, it may take some sales away from the newer devices.

I would guess that the bandwidth usage is negligible on a properly done/controlled release.

That being said, I just read that there is a newer ICS leak out there but the people who have it won't release it....

So yes, it could definitely be about the money and that stinks because the Rezound owners are the ones who are being neglected.

the cost of pushing the update is really low, since it is all going over Verizon's network. I would say 90% of people buying the rezound probably don't care enough that it would sway their decision either way.

if they sold 100000 rezounds, maybe 5000 people are actively looking for the update

I agree with this because of the way that they are still pushing the razr and razr max devices. Also keep in mind that the S3 just came out and they want to get those sales as well.
