Is the inspire better than the Atrix? How is the battery life?

you're gonna get quite a few different responses to this question probably. especially since you are in the inspire forums. I've never had the atrix, but i did have the droid x. I hated motoblur! hated everything about it, i know that the atrix has a new version, but its still motoblur. i tried everything i could to make my x look like sense. now i have sense, love it! the atrix has some neat things about it, fingerprint reader, hdmi, laptop dock, but in my opinion, i'd never use most of those. maybe the fingerprint reader, but i bet even that would get old after a while. battery life on the inspire is not the best in the world. with light use i can get over 22 hours. if you are going to use the phone at all (which is what its for) then expect anywhere from 12-15 hours of medium use. yeah you could turn off this and that and whatever, but whats the point? its just as easy to keep those things on and just recharge when you get a chance. i like the build quality of the inspire better than the atrix as well. good luck!

better than the atrix? im going to say no as the atrix is dual core and has 1gb ram. i love my atrix/my nexus s and loved my inspire before the wife stole it haha.

but its a great phone i just prefer the atrix as i hate SENSE!!!!! and blur but blur is less intrusive.

thats why my nexus S will always be my favorite running Vanilla andorid :)

the fingerprint reader is such a gimmick and a very niche idea thankfully they combined it with the power button so that it can be ignored easily

i had a choice of the inspire 4g or atrix 4g and went with the atrix. i like the 4 inch screen as it's more than the traditional 3'5-3'7 and smaller than 4'3-4'5.

the fingerprint reader may be a gimmick to most, but it can definitely come in handy. i have friends that would look at my passcode and type it in and go through my personal stuff, including the photo app. with the fingerprint reader, they never see me enter and passcode and can't duplicate my fingerprint w/o MY FINGER. hah.

it all depends on what you want/need/like in a device.

for me, the 4 inch screen, dual cores, 1gb of ram, fingerprint reader, front facing cam and the fingerprint reader were all reasons i chose the atrix over the inspire.

if at&t introduces the nexus s or can trade a rogers version, i'll definitely be going that route and dropping my atrix. i love the vanilla experience and the screens on Samsung devices (SAMOLED). i really don't dislike anything about my atrix, but since my first experience with android was with the nexus one, i want to continue with the nexus line.

i recently traded my 9700 for an inspire, so i'll definitely have more hands on experience than the initial one i had with the device.

Well look at it like this. Both have there own features and you need to decide wich ones are for you. They are both very capable phones it just depends on your preferences. But the Inspire is a great phone.

I VERY much agree with this comment. I originally went with the Inspire only to not be able to resist and switched to Atrix. After several months with it... I just couldn't resist switching back to the Inspire. I have zero regrets! I just think Sense is better than motoblur in my personal opinion.

Go with what works for you!

atrix vs inspire

I looked at both really hard. There were a couple of nice side by side video's on Youtube about the 2 phones. It was hard for me because the atrix has a brighter, slightly more high res and more contrasty screen. It has better battery life and the front facing camera. However, I went with the larger screen because even in the videos I could read the words better on the inspire because of the native font size. (high res makes fonts look smaller).

I thought the large screen out weighed the other draw backs and I really liked the look of the inspire better. I also thought the test photos looked better on the inspire. I liked the larger pixel size of that also. It was a close call but the screen size and 50 buck price swayed me. Also I read that half the atrix ram is reserved for the laptop function. If I had 500 dollars I would just get me a net book... so I would probably never use that function. If what I read is true then it has less ram for the phone functions than inspire. Also, I hate to be the first to jump on a hard ware band wagon. (dual core) I will let other people work out the bugs.

good luck,
Thor's Gal

I switched from an iPhone, and didn't have the extra $100 to dish out at the time for the atrix or iPhone 4. But I'm glad I ended up with the inspire.. love everything about the phone except no front facing camera. other than that, hands down my favorite smart phone.

o

This is the best phone I have ever had. It is fast, looks nice and I love the apps and games from the market. The only knock, (its a big one) is the battery life. The battery is horrendous. I will go to class with a full charge, and within 2 hours or less the battery is starting to die without even using it. On my 1 hr break I use it here and there to text, and maybe check a score on the internet and god forbid I do that because I will not make it through the rest of the day like this. It really sucks that I cant even moderately used it without the battery dying within an hour. At one point I was like "whats the point of being able to do all these things on this phone if you cant even do them cause the battery will die"

...so yeah....I have a Seiko (i think is the name) battery, my stock one, and a super generic one I got from ebay that came with a wall charger. This seems to be the only way to go with this phone. If you plan on using your phone non stop for atleast 1 hr throughout any part of the day you need an extra battery.....

One thing I noticed...after the recent update my battery life is A LITTLE better. Now whenever I disconnect it and its fully charged it lasts atleast 1 or 2 before it starts lowering...before the full batt would start lowering as soon as i would disconnect it haha

the female ones... ;)

My wife or whoever is welcome to see whatever pics or messages I have on my phone. She wouldn't bother trying to sneak a look.
That falls under the category of "Don't ask if you don't really want to know the answer."

.. love everything about the phone except no front facing camera.

You know (to me) the front facing camera on my iPhone 4 was something cool to be able to say, "look what I have".......for about 3 days. Never once used it after that. Yeah, the inspire is pretty much everything I want, without paying the extra price for all the stuff I'll never use.

yea i know some people who wont use it at all but i love it as when i have to go away the wife loves to use it to talk to me. so i guess it always depends how you use the phone.

android devices have hit the point where you really cant go wrong. as long as you find a device that does everything you need then your good to go. they are all plenty powerful enough. if you have no intention of upgrading in less then 2 years you might want to consider dual core. (but you certainly dont need)

I have had both phones...
I started with the Atrix, loved it and then it started crashing and acting badly all around (screen freezes, lock screen crashes, etc). The first OTA was supposed to fix some of that but it didn't. I returned it to ATT got another thinking it was a lemon...3 days later the same thing. Did I mention the frequent auto-reboots and hot battery? Took it back and gave it a 3rd chance...again same result. ATT store guy told me that they were having a "increased number of returns."

So I shopped around the store and decided to try the inspire. I haven't had any problems (except a minor music player bug), not one crash.

In my humble opinion the Atrix was rushed out, Motoblur sucks, and the phone, although good when it works, is not worth it. The Inspire has been fantastic (and, truthfully, I like Sense)

Yeah but I hate the fact that when I'm gone i'll have to be next to a computer to use skype to see my girlfriend lol. front facing camera would mean loads to me.

well......you will be able to see her but it will be able for her to see you back or it to happen at simultaneously haha....

a couple of clients let you video chat with people and it using your rear camera..so you would probably be able to see her..and if you wanted her to see you you would probably have to flip your phone around...

that's just too much work... lol. or even trying to put the camera in the mirror while you look at the mirror & screen.

that was another reason i chose the atrix over the inspire. although i rarely use it, it's good to have and from time to time, i do.
