Is the latest update making your phone run hot?

I know it's warm weather, but after the new update, with just wifi on, doing nothing, sitting on my desk my battery temperature says it's like 86 degrees. Am I missing something? And that's F, not C.

I just installed the June 1 Security update from AT&T and no heat issues and running really good.

Lately, and I suspect if was after the last Security Update or buggy versions of Google Maps, but my Google Maps/GPS has been a hot mess. Consistently freezing while giving directions where I would have to close all apps, reopen the Maps app and start the guidance again and it works for a while. Sometimes I got wrong directions too and that was a pain because I was on business in Palm Springs a couple of weeks ago and had these issues.

After the update, I just put the phone through it's paces running the map a few times to different locations and no freeze or accuracy issues. And normally the phone would get warm when using maps and no rise in temp that I can feel in hand.

Two weeks ago I was done with this phone and anxious for the Note 20+. Still anxious for the Note 20+ but loving the phone again. I'll keep pushing it more and see if anything noticeable pops up.

Update to my post above... GPS still broken. :(

Got a chance to use it since the update and it froze on me giving me directions home twice and once it even started with my current location being off.

It would be nice if they fixed it in next Security Update. If not, the Note will then be 3 years old and Security updates will then be pushed every THREE months and have to wait three months in hopes they fix it while getting wrong directions or mapp app crashing.

Looking more forward to the Note 20+ launch now.

Have you tried running GPS Status and Tools to see how many satellites you are tracking and or cleared any stored GPS data?

I don't know about those things but I think I've done about everything I could short of erasing the phone which I am hesitant to do since it's a pain to get everything configured back exactly as before... ah too bad you can't get a one step total backup and restore like you can on iOS...

I have tried clearing data on the maps app and rolled back all the updates to day one version and still no go. Happens here in my home area in Florida... happened when I flew and was in California all week on business so I don't think it's location.

This is an ongoing issue with many and discussed with quite a few people on reddit. At least I learned I don't have to keep closing all apps and restarting... I just just toggle location off and on.

I'll just have to limp it another couple of months and probably go with the Note 20+ if the info sounds good at press release :)

Cool. I downloaded it... No, idea what all of this is saying but I'll try to figure it out and I did the reset too so I guess I'll test it out my GPS during weekend.

Oh well, reset didn't help. Coming back from Blaze Pizza I remembered to test my GPS with directions home and froze up for me after a couple of minutes into it. I took a screenshot of map where it froze, opened the utility to see what it was seeing. Looked like it couldn't find GPS signal. Screenshot. Then closed my apps and restarted map and when it looked to be working took shot of GPS utility again. All within quarter mile of where it lost signal.

Tells you how many satellites are available vs connected. This is indoors. I use the manage GPS state refresh the data

Samsung released a satellite/GPS update through their Samsung Store today. I should have taken a screenshot or remember the exact name. Installed and will see if it has any relation to the gps issue many have experienced.

Ah. Will do.
