Is the Maxx HD noticeably slower than the DNA?

Hi All,

I'm about to upgrade, and I'm feeling pretty torn between the Razr Maxx HD and the HTC DNA. I'm leaning heavily toward the Razr Maxx HD because I've decided I care most about battery life. The difference in screen quality and camera aren't so important to me.

But I'm worried that I might regret choosing the slower Razr Maxx HD (Dual Core, 1GB ram) over the DNA's quadcore and 2gb of ram. How much of a difference will it make to a normal user like me who mostly just checks email, surfs the web, and watches the occasional video? Is the Razr Maxx HD substantially slower than the DNA? Anyone played with both and noticed much of a difference?

The razr HD can get laggy at times. The battery is a huge difference alone and the HTC Sense UI is heavier than the lightweight Motorola. I've only tried out the dna in store very briefly and it's quite smooth.

I tried the DNA and wen't back to the MAXX HD. I just couldn't handle the puny battery of the DNA...the reception wasn't all that great, either.

To be honest, I just did a factory reset on my MAXX HD and it's flying now. I didn't disable a single app or feature. I've got Google Now enabled, all the Verizon apps installed and updated and its honestly flying faster than it ever has...I rarely close apps...it just flies...I dunno whats different, but its great!

I was torn too.

But I played around with a DNA in the store quite a bit, and didn't notice any difference. Still, maybe it'd be more apparent after owning one for awhile? Either way, I haven't noticed any lag with my Maxx HD, but I guess experiences can vary a bit.

I have read a number of DNA reviews that mentioned it occasionally lagged when doing screen-intensive tasks, the suggestion being that the high pixel count takes more processing power to run.

In the end, I decided that I just didn't want to have to worry about maximizing the DNA's battery life through managing screen brightness, which options that are on, etc. The Maxx HD is pretty worry-free, you can use all of it's potential all day.

Thanks so much, guys! Hearing your experiences makes me feel more confident to just go for the Maxx HD. It sounds like most lag issues can be easily managed (which I'd prefer to managing battery issues... like lowering the screen life on your phone. That's a great point katesbb!). You pretty much sealed the deal for me.

I had the DNA and returned it for a Maxx HD. The DNA was a bit smoother in some areas but over all, I don't see much of a difference; The battery is killer feature on the Maxx.
