Is the multitasking button pointless?

Since multitasking on HTC One X is fake like Apple's appswitching try, and has no benefits, then shouldn't everyone convert the multitasking button to the menu button with the 4.0.4 update.

Is there any point in to leaving the multitasking button as is or is changing it to menu button the only sensible option?

I switched it to have the menu option, not because it was pointless. I still get the multitasking switch via long press. And I do find myself using it regularly. And it does have benefits for me. It might not be perfect in-progress multitasking (say like webOS used to give you) but I do find myself using it as my primary method of switching back to apps I was working in.

Wow a multitasking button? U mean it has a specific button just to show ur running apps?

I have the GS3 and I just hold the home button for that... I don't think a button is necessary

Yes. It has exactly the buttons Google wants it to have. Unlike your S3.

Exactly. If you change from the way the goog wants, it just makes it more kludgy using other devices.

You can still switch apps faster with the button than without, despite the shortcomings. I have the long press for menu and default for tap.

Mines press for multi, press and hold for menu. Like above, this is how Google wants it, unlike the s3

I use the same.

When I got the update, I tried the menu on tap and multitasking on tap and hold, but I found I used menus far less often than I thought I did.

I like hold for menu too. Im glad htc gives us the option!

I don't mind the multi button. Apple's multitasking was lame. I hated it. Check out Cydia and see why so many of their multitasking tweaks rip off Android style. This option is much better. My opinion though. :)
