will the higher definition wqhd kill my battery sooner than the hd+?
Also is this phone 4k?

I figure I should increase the res when watching a movie or something..

thanks

re:

Yes using wqhd or “quadHD” will have a negative impact on battery life. The Note 8 is more like 2K, it’s better than HD (when enabled) but not quite 4K. However the camera can film in 4K.

I maxxed out the display resolution on mine and love it. I set it to auto brightness and I'm not seeing a huge hit on battery life.

This, I have mine maxed and battery life is great! I came from the Phab 2 Pro and was worried about battery life because the Phab had a 4000 mah battery but the Note8 is a beast!

The note 8 is quad hd+ but is really "3k". It is 2960 in the long direction. 4k is defined as 4096 in the long direction in theory but in practice it is 3840.

I have used both full resolution and 1080p and noticed really small difference in battery life

I keep my phone on Entertainment mode, and i haven't found a negative battery impact.

I run my beast in full 2k mode why not?? that why you bought it in the first place hehe. 🔋 is about the same either way

I just switched to Entertainment mode and I had to resize my SwiftKey keyboard to the smallest, it covered 2/3 of the screen on medium in the new display mode. Smallest is the same as medium in optimized. Way better picture, wowza.

So those of you who have switched to WQHD from FHD...Is the difference in quality a lot more noticeable on your device?

The Note8 can record video at 2160p (which advertisers like to call 4k), but its display can only go up to 1440p.

I have asked this question before, but I'm on FHD myself. I tried switching to the WQHD and the fonts became slightly smaller and I didn't like that. So I lefted it at FHD.

You can change the font size, if so inclined,in the display settings

No. It’s more like 3K since its horizontal resolution is 2960 pixels.

As for battery consumption, there’s a negligible impact. I ran mine in FHD and QHD and I never experienced any significant differences between the 2. So I kept it in QHD. Lasts all-day and then some for my case.
