Is the Note 8 going to be too big?

Im not the biggest far of the size. I dont understand why they have to keep it so thin from side to side. I like the feel of my note 5 in a slim case. As a us woman over a size 10, i dont see the issue of wider and taller. I still feel like this size or 18.5x9 thing is more for the European or samsungs "home tuff". Considering that people of that descent tend to be more petite.

And as a woman, i use the S pen for everything, not sure why youd used a note sideways unless the game you play is laid out that way, even then i use the s pen to type 90% of the time.

I've owned all the Notes with the exception of the first. Although I have subversive thoughts about the Note 5, I agree that they got the size to the perfect dimensions.

Since essentially same size as 8+, no need to guess. Just hold the 8+ and you will know.

Also apparently even more sharp edges than the 8+, so even more apparent spec space wasted. Seems a silly design for a device intended for writing on.

Gotta be better than my s6 edge plus. Won't catch me holding that thing without a case.

It does seem awfully long and thin. Probably almost too tall for me. Calling the edges "sharp" is a bit silly though. Perhaps "less round" describes it better. I'm sure it will be a great phone. I'd probably get it if the Note 7 fiasco didn't happen, loved that phone. I ended up with a Pixel XL (will probably go with the Pixel XL 2, which will also be tall and thin).

I have played with the S8+ in stores and it is just so damn tall and thin. I don't like these modern aspect ratios at all...

This is a good thread.

I've been thinking the same thing and of course will wait until I can play with Note 8 personally before making a decision.

Part of me just wants to give in a buy a S8 and go for the light and small (still 5.8") and give these large phones a break. Mainly because I almost never use my phone for anything serious anymore. I have two tablets and a big double screen tower.

So, we'll see. For those who are wondering about the size of Note 8 vs S8+ as mentioned above they are basically within 0.1" of each other. So to the naked eye they are basically the same size. Note 8 is just 1mm wider and couple of mm's taller. We did the measurement comparo in another thread.

Also Samsung has gone narrower in fact to please the women buyers! The phones are now easier to hold with smaller hands. Or so they hope. :)

You are totally right. It's quite uncomfortable for us ladies having to use these big phones. I have small hands and my N4 size is the limit for me. It's a struggle as it is. Remember that most of our clothing comes with tiny pockets or none at all and not all of us like to carry big purses. I can't even use my N4 single handedly 😑

For us with big hands 6.3inchs is okay, but I think it would be better if it had the width of the Note 4.

Is this fact? I would hope it's not. So, they are redesigning all of their phones today to make it easier for women to hold? Sounds pretty sexist to me. What about children? Are they going to make a super slim phone for them as well?

Some ladies have bigger hands and some have smaller. Some people with smaller hands love the bigger phones. Some people with big hands prefer the smaller phones. Are the colors for women too? A statement like that to sell more phones would be just as sexist if they were catering to women.

Bottom line is, there is a phone for everyone. I can't imagine Samsung engineering all of their flagship phones for a specific customer base.

I don't think it's too big. I've played with the s8+ and it's OK. I would prefer wider for the Note though. I'd rather have the horizontal space as opposed to vertical, although I get the vertical helps in Scrolling through social media. Samsung gives the option to reduce screen size so that probably helps for one handed use. Idk, I don't mind using both hands to text.

The curves on the renders remind me more like a water fall edge. Pretty sharp IMO. Less rounded would suggest a flatter surface. Looks like sharp edges to me. Worse curves than 8+.
