Is the Pixel 3 the 2018 Phone of the year?

USB C audio through a dongle that has a DAC is usually better than the internal DACs except LG phones with the Quad DAC. I've actually tested this across many phones.

Probably because the USB C port can more easily and more safely supply additional power to the accessory. If the dongle is high quality, or the DAC within the USB C headphones is high quality, then audio has the potential to be great.

I'll give credit to Samsung where it's due. I was setting up my brother's note 8 with the pixel launcher and Google camera the other day, and i was was actually shocked with how fast it still was. It wasn't any slower then my pixel 2, which is really saying something for anyone that has used Samsung phones in the past. The software is still annoying to me, but it's definitely not janky like i assumed it would be on a year old Samsung.

Absolutely. I have respect for Samsung - I just don't like the software all that much.

Yeah I'm running it on my s9+

I haven't handled a Sammy in years, so I've only seen a few videos on it. I think it's interesting, but have questions about it. Looked like a lot of wasted space, but maybe there's a purpose there that the videos I've seen just don't cover.

It seems like it's wasted but u can go up or down to minimize or expand what your in . It has better feel less clutter and cleaner UI plus true dark theme throughout the UI

Interesting.. AA went with Huawei last year for the top spot, though the N8 was 2nd. Be interesting to see where AC and The Verge come in.

N9 is a beast of a device, that's for sure.

Wow AA is not very good at analysis. I don't see that they tested anything or referenced credible data from others. And while I understand why they ignored software, they should not have ignored some of the tangentially related categories, such as security, support, etc.

AA is sharing their editorial opinion and not an objective analysis of overall device quality - or even an objective analysis of any single aspect of device quality.

I didn't expect them to offer anything except editorial commentary.

I look at it like this ...wait until AC,verge and others come to their conclusions and see if they feel the same if more then 1 thinks they number 1 this year well more wine 😁😂😂

You're right. They did the same last year and I think they opened the field way too much with too many "also rans", If you look at last year's methodology, I think keeping down to fewer names is better.

I mean looking at 30 phones this year just seems diluted, IMO.

Lol! We'll see once the rest come in ... AA doesn't really like Pixels to begin with. I feel they have a bias against the brand. Just look at their review of the 3 this year.

"After weeks of testing against a field of 30 phones, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has emerged victorious as the best smartphone of 2018."

I don't think they've announced people's choice yet, have they?

No its coming..
To me I dont look too much into these things
I have the device's that make me happy and people here I share my thoughts on things. They can pick the poco phone as number 1 dont matter to me.

"IF I LISTEN OTHER PEOPLE I NEVER BUY A PHONE " The Mike Dee Quote which I like a lot Mr. Redneck lol
