Is the triumph that bad?

I've been considering upgrading my optimus v and the triumph seems the best option but some say it sucks.I'd get the evo but 4g is not available in my area so it seems like a waste

Unless you find it for a steal, I wouldn't touch one, and why should you, at full price, it's $20 less than an Evo V. Yes, grandfathered users have to pay an extra $10 a month, but I suspect that will last maybe another year.

You are looking at the Evo V entirely wrong.
Ignore 4g, ignore 3d. Now look at the phone specs.
3d and 4g should NOT be the primary reasons for buying it, they are just a bonus.

its a different machine. I think its awesome but wouldn't buy it now, personally. If I find it cheap you can bet I'll buy it. The Evo is like a lamborghini and the triumph is like a Viper

If it's on sale then get it. The lowest I've seen the Triumph sell for was $120 during the holiday season last year. I believe it was a Black Friday deal (but may have been Cyber Monday). Pretty much buy it only if it dips below $200 I say. I may get one if it goes on sale again, as I want to keep my grandfathered $25/month plan.

My old lady has the triumph and its ok.... easy as hell to root. Hers used to reboot randomly. as long as you format your SD card an keep all the apps that let you move them to SD card on the SD card then its all good. I like it but with the HTC so close in price its a tough choice

I don't.
You can get an Elite for half that, and it's pretty similar (not identical), since they accidentally up clocked it.
Plus, within a month, for $200, you will likely be able to get the HTC One V.

Cases you can find for under $5, screen protectors for under $1.

I for sure thought that when the evo came out the triumph would come down to like 100 bucks since no one would consider paying 30 less then the evo for a phone that is worth less then the ov.

Just give it time. Once VM gets the One V the Triumph will cost less.

If it was going to drop in price it should have by now.

I'm sure it will soon, but I wouldn't say it will right when the One V comes out. Even then I suspect they will be similar in price.
