Is the Verizon HTC One (M7) running Lollipop impossible to root?

Since the multiple threads I have perused on android central and xda have thus far proved inconclusive, can someone tell me definitively if it is *currently* impossible to root the HTC One (M7) running Lollipop (5.0.2) on Verizon? I know that Verizon makes a huge issue out of locking everything down, but I want to know if it is even possible at the moment.

Everything I have read or tried either requires root to unlock the bootloader, ore requires the bootloader to be unlocked first in order to achieve root in the first place. Is this just a vicious catch-22 that means that I'm SOL?

Towelroot, Safestrap, SunShine, Odin, etc. have all proven ineffective.

same here ..tried almost every root method possible.no luck..on 5.0.2 .my last option was to try to downgrade but says i cannot downgrade with RUU firmware if i am s-on and trying to downgrade..this is really fustratin..i cant live without rooting and custom roms.i really wanted to try cm ion my htc one..now it seems ill have to get rid of this phone..also tried rumrunner but its not working on 5.0.2 either!!
