It'll depend on the app. Spotify can hook into the phones built in equaliser, but I think it has to be coded to do so specifically.

What app are you using?

If you're using the stock music player, it does not have one. You'll need to install an app like PowerAmp to get Eq ability.

My stock music player has an EQ under Settings\SoundAlive\Advanced

I think PowerAmp is the best app for music. Love the EQ settings! It even plays iTunes songs...Yes, I had an iPhone once. Had a 4, 5 and a 5s. The down side is it does not play .wav files but the stock app does.

Play music can access it too, under settings, just tried it

I access mine by going to a song I'm playing and then pressing the little volume button on screen and then selecting the little icon.
