Is there a fix for N10 WiFi issues?

I have had my N10 for a few months now and it has been flawless but all of a sudden starting a couple days ago it will not hold a WiFi signal for more than a couple minutes. Every other device in my household works just fine on the same signal.

Is there any fix for this or do I have to go through the hassle of contacting Google for a replacement?

No, there's not. Problem is, I reckon there's several WiFi issues - everyone's symptoms vary a great deal. Also, I suspect there's some router problems, whereby some routers are not compatible with the N10's WiFi silicon.

I phoned Google yesterday. They were worse than useless, in that I simply wasted my time. They pushed the problem onto my ISP. They could not comprehend the logic of my claim that my N10 should be suspect, given that my N4 and every other mobile and laptop in my home experience no WiFi problems.

The Google representative claimed she had never heard of anyone phoning about a WiFi problem.

Just to be sure, have you power-cycled your router and checked for interference?
 
Routers are strange and mysterious beasts.

When you are having these problems with your N10 I suggest you connect to the router's settings via PC and see what It shows from the router's end. What devices are shown as connected? [ I've seen routers not "disconnect a device on their end so they won't LET said device reconnect]? How many connections are possible [I once knew someone who complained about a device not connecting only to be red faced when he found out his router didn't support the number of active connections he was trying to put through it] , ETC

It also wouldn't hurt to run a wi-fi analyzer app to make sure no new neigbors have moved in or otherwise manged to increase their signals conflicting with the channel your router is on.
 
I am going to do a hard reset on my n10 tonight to see if it will be fixed.
Every night I have to go into airplane mode and come back out before it will connect.
It sits all day sleeping,I only use it at night.
Once it'd connected, it stays connected and is fine.
I wouldn't blame that on my router.

You'd be surprised...Not saying that it *IS* the router, just saying it's not out of the realm of possibilities. As I mentioned above, at the very least I'd give it a power cycle to see if that improves things.

Do you have your wifi settings set for 'always on' to is it set to shut off during inactivity?
 
Always on and optimization off

Any other ideas?
I will power cycle my router also.

Just did hard reset too so all my apps are re downloading now.
Is there any way when resetting like that to have all my apps restored to where they were?

I have kinda the same issue but with me it works most of the time then there's times it will just disconnect or drop my signal. I was thinking it could be the router but I had a theory if I find out what ports are used by my nexus and see if I port forward them if this helps the issue at all like it did for my Xbox. My question is does anyone know what ports the nexus 10 uses? If they are Tcp, UDP or both?

It uses potentially ANY ports. Unlike with an xbox, that uses specific ports for gaming and connecting to their xbox live, the ports used by the N10 depend completely on what it is you're actually using it for, just like any other computer in your house. In other words, ports are application dependent, not device dependent.

Yeah as soon as I hit reply it occurred to me that it's basicly a computer. Each app would use there own set of ports. Call it a brain fart on my part and thanks for correction.
 
I'm having the same problem (grey icon, router page shows it as a connected device but no actual internet)--here's my fix (though i've found out it's somewhat temporary)
1) router settings via PC
2) DHCP area
3) manually add my MAC & IP address to the DHCP list
4) hit refresh--and voila. Tablet has internet (blue icon).

this will allow internet for about 10 minutes, or until the tablet is shut off. after 10 minutes, you have to go back to the DHCP page & refresh it.
It connects just fine at work, but I can't use my tablet at home. So it is a Router problem. (coupled with software, i'd bet)

UPDATE: doing more research, I've come across information regarding a possible cause: RaLink chipset. Check to see if your router uses it--mine does (as does many others)--I have an Arris router (cable modem/router).

If in question put the tablet on an IP in the routers DMZ. This will put it passed any firewalls.

Personally I've seen mine disconnect from WiFi for a brief second a handful of times. That's it....so no issues...

and just like that---issue solved for me. well. resolved, maybe.
after an hour on the phone with tech support & attempting to even set up an Access Point with a Linksys router, i finally got the tablet to connect. How?
Replaced the friggin Modem/Router box from Comporium (Arris DG860 W/ Intel Chipset) with an older Arris Modem/Router (uncertain of chipset).
it very well might have been just the older firmware that is the solution, i can't recall the DG860's firmware version to do a comparison.

so yes. it was the modem/router. no amount of settings fixed it for me otherwise (DMZ/StaticIP/White-List DHCP/etc).
replace the modem/router :)
 
mine seems to be fixed too (knock on wood)

i did a hard reset and since then no connectivity issues
 
I keep recommending "Wifi Analyzer" from Google Play. Shows what frequency your router is using and the strength and weather the channel is crowded or not. I don't understand the Wifi problems I hear about with the Nexus 7 and 10. They use good methods (possibly MEMO?). Maybe the parts had poor quality control? Operator error could be some of it. Lans can be tricky. Anyone have some ideas?
