I installed *Skinomi MatteSkin Screen Protector*on my G5 almost a year ago, no bubbles, no lifting up. Looks as good as it did when I first applied it.

The YooTech tempered glass screen protector I bought from Amazon worked well for me. Maybe you can try that.

I have used Zagg ever since my BlackBerry days. The tempered glass fis and stays put. I've cracked a few, which saved my screen. Zagg is prompt in replacing, no questions asked.

Tempered glass cracks easily so I doubt it saved your screen from cracking.
