This might be what the OP was referring to, the option to disable an app that comes preinstalled and cannot be removed.You can't hide apps without some 3rd party app. You can, however, disable some apps that are 'stock' and non-removable, which will remove them from the app tray.

If that's not what he is referring to there isn't and hasn't been a way even on the Nexus phones without a third-party app.
I'm with gabbott, hiding apps is not part of the stock launcher on the 6P.
Yes it is. It was a part of 6p and pixel. Disable will stop a stock app from running or appearing in the app tray.
