So ummm, ya. What the title says. This forum is pretty quiet, no? Thanks to the few that post here to at least make it something, but it seems really really quiet overall.

I'm an android and htc noob, coming from bb, and over at crackerry forums they are much much more active, and surprisingly so given their obvious low market share. I feel like every day I visited the bb (z10) forum there'd be a dozen new posts and dozens of new comments. In this m9 forum it's almost the same half dozen posts every day with maybe a half dozen new comments.

Is htc the bb of android?? Is there another much busier htc forum out there that I'm missing out on? Do htc users frequent the more general android forums vs htc specific ones like this?

I'm really liking the phone so far, aside from the known complaints, but coming from bb was really expecting a much more active community.

Let me know if I'm missing something! Cheers

But I think it's better when there's not to much activity as I can keep up with all posts plus any questions I have get answers quickly. I'm new here too.

I think there are several reasons why it's a little quieter over here. The biggest is sales. There are just more S6/S6 Edge and G4 users than M9 users unfortunately.
A second one is duplicate threads. There are at least 30 threads in the S6 forums related to battery life. I honestly think I'm downplaying the 30.
Also, I think there are more M9 users that are previous HTC owners. So a lot of the little things don't get threads because a good many users on this forum know about settings/optimizations already.
I've noticed a quantity over quality on some of the other threads as well. There are tons of "I agree" or "Me too" posts on those threads. It's not a bad thing, but it adds to the total posts. I read most of the posts on here, but if I feel like my response isn't new or helpful in anyway I don't post. I've noticed other M9 users are the same. There are fewer "you're wrong", "X phone sucks", X phone is the best phone ever" here.
There seems to be a lot of opposing viewpoints on the Samsung threads in general, which in turn leads to more posts.
Like it or not, the M9 didn't change as much as the other flagships this year. No new radical design, no new display tech, etc. So there are fewer questions regarding new tech.
Finally, with the exception of the M9 camera, there seems to be fewer problems overall than the other phones.

Really the one thread that bums me out is the "post your pics" thread, which I started so it only adds to the disappointment. It's more of a discussion than a place to post photos it seems. I'm at fault as much as others though because I haven't posted a ton of pics either. I unfortunately haven't had the time to get out and really put it to task. Hopefully that'll change though.

Why don't you become more active yourselves then? If you have any questions or topics to discuss, then just start a new thread.

I'm just waiting to get my unlocked HTC M9 from HTC for the US market. I'm excited to get this phone as I like Sense and HTC but there camera has always bummed me out but looking through this forum has given me hope for this camera. I'm coming from a Nexus 5.

I actually really like the camera in decently lit situations (both indoor/outdoor). Even in auto. The lowlight could use some work though.

If you are taking most of your pictures in daylight, then you will be very happy with the camera, especially when the latest firmware update comes to the US. For low light pictures I suggest you stick with manual mode..

Agreed I suppose, less traffic, easier to get attention to your own posts

Thanks for the response, you were one of the couple I was thinking about with regular posts and it's good to see how active you are.

Agreed that active forums are swamped with repetitive topics and redundant/useless replies, not to mention the infamous 'trolls' haha. I suppose quality over quantity is best.

Also agreed that it seems the m9 isn't as popular as other android devices, hence my halfwit comment about it being the 'bb of android' :)

I guess I was just really surprised coming from bb at the low level of forum posts and participation...i thought it would be much much more. As a lot of posts are centred around problems, perhaps less posts mean less complaints with the device? ;)

Part of why I browse forums isn't always because I have an issue, it's for enjoyment and I often find out something new (either good or bad) about the device/OS. In that sense, the more posts the better.

Anyway, hopefully quality posts for the m9 will increase with more users and more participators, myself being one of them.

Cheers

Haha yes, I was thinking this as I wrote the original post - 'be the change you want to see in the world' right?

I've only had the m9 for a couple weeks and have posted a couple times and will continue to if I have something to offer/ask.

That said and as previously mentioned, I enjoy browsing others posts as I often learn something new, so I hope quality posts with useful info see a big up tick here!

Thanks

I'm not sure if it's because BB gets so much crap the past few years or what, but BB fans tend to be very vocal. BB users LOVE BB. Haha!

I'm mostly here for enjoyment and to learn as well. I enjoy reading others' tips, and sharing my own if I can help. One thing I really like about the M9 threads is there's a lot less arguing back and forth. It's here, but not quite as much as some other devices. Speaking of tips, one of the ones I found out about here is the triple tap to wake. If your device is on a table laying flat, you don't have to pick up and double tap to wake. You can triple tap to wake if it's laying on your desk. It's not quite as reliable as double tap in portrait, but it works well enough.

Haha yes 'the blackberry faithful'... I was one for many years, still am actually, just needed to give android and the m9 a go after years of bbos/bb10.

Re the triple tap, I can double tap to wake whether it's lying flat or holding it. Thing is it wakes to the lock screen, whereas swipe up (lying flat or holding) actually wakes it unlocked.

Unfortunately for me both double tap and swipe up are not 100% reliable. Still have to press the power key every so often.

Wow! Seriously didn know about triple tap to wake. I think one of the reasons there's less amount of post/thread is ppl like me, I chose to import the M9 over S6, LGG4 and M9+ (I'm from Malaysia, only M9+ available here) despite the the other devices being sold locally and have better reviews. I knew exactly what I'm getting and am very satisfied with my phone. I just don't find the need to constantly post and argue with users of other brands on why the M9 is better or vice versa.

I knew the camera wasn't going to be in the same league as S6 and G4, but I know I'm getting smooth UI in Sense 7. I'm willing to take a weaker camera over stuttery UI.

I like how some people think just because a camera might not technically be the "best", that it's bad. All high end phones take good pictures these days. I'm the same as you, I'll take the Nexus 6's buttery smooth user experience over a slightly better camera any day.

Created an account just to thank you for my amusement for today if you double/triple tap the phone to wake it and don't unlock it you can double/triple tap it to put it back to sleep

Yup, quick way to wake and check messages and put back to sleep. You can also achieve with a single tap if you have the sleep button added to the fixed action bar at the bottom :)

One thing I've found with the double tap to wake/sleep function is it works mostly when horizontal. If I'm holding my phone vertical and upright, it's 50/50 if it works.
