Is there a way on LG G7 Thinq to swipe away the pop-up for text messages without marking it as read?

Android Central Question

At the moment, if a text popup appears I can either answer, wait for it to go away, or click the x in the top right corner. Unfortunately, as much as I like the popups, if I can't answer right away/am doing something else, I do not want to wait an undermined amount of time for it to go away on its own, but the x button marks the message as read so the notification goes away completely. Is there a way to change this so it is more similar to a Samsung where you can swipe away the notification without it removing it? For example, swiping away the popup like you can with notifications on the notification tray.

I'm not sure what app you're using but I had an app with pop-ups and swiping to one side, I don't remember which way was which, marked it as read and the other did not. I also had an app that had a setting for what to do with a message when x was pushed so you may also want to check your settings.

Welcome to Android Central.

What messaging app are you using?

I've used both Gboard and Textra. Both of those allow one to swipe away a notification without marking the message as read.
