Is there a way to add a contact pic from sd card?

I put my pics on my sd card but can't figure out how to add it to my contacts?does the picture have to be on the phone's internal memory?

You can use the Astro File Manager to find out and access the picture from SD Card. There are other file managers available too which will do the job.

You should be able to open the "People" or "Contacts" app, open the contact then select the image to change it. An option should come up to select from gallery, which really shouldn't matter if the photo is stored on the internal or external sd card. Let us know if you need further assistance.

samsung s4 and I'm really liking it now that you guys are figuring stuff out for me lol I'm coming from iphone and am android stupid
