Is there a way to have messages show even when the screen is black?

I am certain my previous Samsung showed me when I had a text message even when the screen was blacked out. Is there a setting I am just not finding? Thanks

If you are talking about on the AOD screen, I do not think there is a way, maybe with a 3rd party app, but I have not heard of anything doing this.

You can go to Settings/Notifications/Notification pop-up style and toggle the "Show even while screen is off" option. You can also tweak options for AOD to come up only for new notifications.
