Is there a way to integrate music downloads with iTunes?

I download music on my Incredible sometimes using Amazon... the question is, when I plug my Inc into my PC, can I make iTunes copy the new songs into my media library on my PC so that I can keep one central database? Otherwise I forget what's been downloaded, and they never make it onto my PC.

No, there is no automatic way I am aware of, but a third party could do it without too much effort. I thought about integrating that feature into a sync tool I created (and used for over a year), but I have pretty much moved on from iTunes.

I recently started using Winamp instead of iTunes. It does take a little getting used to. The wifi sync works about 10% of the time for me. I got USB syncing to work last night. It works well, but only if you select playlists and "Send to Android..." The auto sync is too buggy to let Winamp do it itself. The neat thing is you can copy from your device to your computer via Winamp usb or wifi.

Winamp has a feature to do an automatic sync and copy new stuff to your hard drive, but it doesn't work right yet. You can do it manually from the Winamp dekstop GUI, though. No need to manually copy any folders. Just highlight the tracks and "Send to local..."

Ah well as soon as Winamp straightens that out I'll make the switch. I tried Winamp on my phone, but it wasn't working great. Newer downloads weren't showing up, and the widget was buggy (wasn't opening the app consistently).

Does Winamp sync with iPods as well? If so, I'm golden. Can't STAND iTunes.

Double twist works really well and integrates well with itunes. In fact it is working so well I am pretty much done using itunes all together.

Android makes me appreciate how much I despise itunes. I love directly downloading netcasts directly to my phone and not having to use a r e t a r d e d program like itunes.

If you download music through Amazon, then just connect your phone to your computer. When your SD card mounts, (make sure your phone is set for disk drive and not usb charge only) find the amazon folder on your sd card and all your purchased music from amazon should be there. Then just copy the files onto your desktop, itunes folder or wherever. When you play them on your computer, they will be pulled into itunes for you.

I recomend double twist. Once the files are in itunes, and you have double twist on you phone AND computer, you can then transfer music through double twist and your phone just as easy as itunes and an ipod.

I don't hate itunes as much as everyone else around here, but I do hate that APPLE restricts it to ONLY sync with ipods, iphones, and ipads. I understand those are their products, there are many other music players and phones and such out there, that they still make a profit off of music sales. I have an ipod, but I use my phone too, and I would like to take the music I BUY, and put it on whatever I like. THAT is my grip with itunes.

I do hate that I have to transfer from my phone to computer, then back to phone for amazon mp3's. I'm not sure as to why double twist can integrate the music already on the phone into it's playlists. Also, I use youmail visual voicemail service (free compared to VZW) and if I don't delete the voicemails, they will play in the playlist. Weird how double twist will pull from youmail, but not amazon.

Winamp updated their app today. The changelog states that wifi sync has been addressed.

I tried using doubleTwist and it was OK, but looked too much like iTunes for my tastes. It was also missing some functionality (I can't even remember what it was that I was missing).

If I made a simple stand-alone desktop application or service (windows only) that did this auto copy, would anyone be interested? Is everyone just sick of using iTunes altogether?
-You would have to tell it what device and folder to monitor (like, "J:\AmazonMP3").
-When it was detected, it would read all the music files in said folder.
-If the music file was not already stored locally (i.e., in iTunes), it would copy the file locally and import it into iTunes.

I could do this, but not right away. It would be similar to an iTunes/Blackberry sync tool I wrote. See QR for my site. I have a version that works for Android at home, but I never updated it on my site.

Sounds intriguing, but I am a MAC user. Funny. I love apple computers, but hate their phone! and their propriety uses of Itunes sync. Other than that, I can NEVER go back to using windows. For the same reasons I hate the Iphone, are the same reasons I love my MAC. Go figure. but if you made it work for windows and Mac, I would be very interested.

Sorry, I am just a windows programmer. This may be a side project for me since it could be used cross-device. Although, we are now moving to wifi syncing, which means this would be heading toward obsolescence even before it gets started.

ditto

You could always make this program in Java... then you have made an app for windows, Mac and Linux.. if java isnt out of your programming capabilities (its out of mine.. i stick with PHP and HTML soo.. lol).

Sync is good but i just mount my phone and copy the files to and from my computer manually.. and that way i know exactly what is going to happen
