Is there a way to permanently sign out of Google Chat?

I can go into the Google Chat settings on the Droid and sign out, but the phone always seems to sign me back in. I am wanting to stay permanently signed out because I am getting duplicate notifications in the pane from my friends. This happens because I am apparently using Google Chat and Nimbuzz at the same time, which is also signed into Google Chat. Anybody have any suggestions?

If you want to perminently disable then why dont u delete the app?? Or you just wanting to temp. diable it?? Phone menu>manage applications>running apps>stop App.

Well I would delete it, except that it is a pre-installed Google app that came with the phone so as far as I know it can't be removed. I also don't want to have to stop a process every time I want to use Nimbuzz.

You mean Google talk right? tap Google Talk>>>tap Menu>>>More>>>Settings>>>Uncheck Automatically Sign-In.

Well, Ive done that too and I still manage to sign back into google Talk somehow. I'll fiddle with it a little more and see if it goes away.

As long as Google Chat is not running in your "Running Services" then you are not signed in. Don't worry about it. Does it keep coming back into your Running services on its own? If so then that sounds like an odd problem. I can't help, hopefully others above me already have.

I'm on an HTC Hero (I know this is a Droid thread) but I'm having the same problems. I kill Google Talk from my running services and auto kill it but it keeps coming open whenever I get an instant message anyway. So in response to DM_Droid, for me at least, it does keep coming back. Hopefully someone has found the fix and will post the solution.

i just want to sign in with a different account and obviously cant sign out of mine as well. An update would really need to address this.I dont feel like doing a hard reset on my phone.

I would be careful about turning off google talk..I've read several places where having that turned off can affect your ability to utilize the Market on your android.

I had a tun of issues with the market timing out, apps not loading, can't install, can't search, and when I reset my phone and had Google Talk turned back on permanently, my problems went away.

I can't say for sure if the 2 are related but the fact that it works now for me is enough to let it running all it wants.
