Is there a way to Restore your phone?

There's very little that I miss about my BB Storm, but the Desktop Manager for Mac was a really nice feature to have for syncing and backing up . Since the Storm was such a POS, I had to use the Restore function at times which will bring your phone completely back to a previously saved state.

Is there anything I can do that would be similar to this (don't forget I have a Mac)? I did copy both of the phones "hard drives" to my computer, would I be able to just drag and drop those back to the phone if I need to?

You don't need a computer to do it.
Turn the power off. If your HTC DROID Incredible is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
Hold the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC DROID Incredible. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.
Once you restart, and run through setup, your contacts will be automatically synced from your gmail account. Also, you can go to the market and see all your purchased apps there (under downloads) ready to download. i suggest you use something like MyBackup Pro or other app to backup system settings. mms, sms etc, so you can restore all that info. It will even restore the home screens.

MyBackup Pro looks nice, does the app just get downloaded to my phone and doesn't use my computer at all?

The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the phone settings.
Press HOME > MENU, then tap Settings.
Scroll down the screen, and then tap Privacy > Factory data reset.
On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything.

what does the recovery feature do? could I use this to restore my HTC Wallpapers, that have gone missing, would rather not erase all my data if I can just restore that specific file/folder....

I'm trying the MyBackup Pro trial, and it seems pretty good although not very polished looking. I still would like a nice desktop program that would do all this plus transfer music, videos, pictures and apps etc.

I'm having trouble using DoubleTwist for some reason too as it doesn't seem to "see" the music I already have on my SD card.

I'm going to have to start looking into backup solutions myself, because even though google handles backing up the contacts, I still the sms/mms and email to the phone backed up.

Now if I can figure out how to backup the stock O/S on the wifes Eris I would Rom hers to 2.1 anyone care to point me to a how to?

You can use The Missing Sync to sync some information to the desktop.

When we get root access, the most thorough way to restore settings, programs, etc., is with Titanium Backup or Nandroid Backup.

Personally, I like to just manually re-add my programs, reconfigure settings, and let Gmail or Exchange restore all my contact, calendar, and email info. It always seems cleaner and guaranteed to be issue free for me.

The Mybackup Pro works great. Does not look all the great but gets the job done. I used this to go from my DROID to the Incredible.
