Is there a way to use the full 16:10 screen on the Nexus 7 2013 to play 16:9 videos?

I assume that the N7 is a 16:10 device thus the black bars on youtube, netflix etc. But is there some sort of 'hack' to make it take up full screen?

Many media players will allow you to 'zoom' in on the video playback. That way the black bars disappear, but you'll lose some of the image on either side - it's entirely up to you.
