is there an app that will let me turn screen on by knocking it twice?(yes, like on the LG phones)
or is that something proprietary to LG?

Yeah wave your hand over the display.I'm not sure about that. But, what about using the option of passing your hand over the device to wake the screen?
It could be, but knocking on screen can be done one handed. Suppose you could set it up to do it both ways and have the option to do it the way that is beneficial at the moment. The wave way you don't need Nova, so that might be a bonus.Knocking on the screen is ok but I think just waving your hand over the screen is way cooler! Just my opinion!

The wave doesn't need nova it's stock b built in.It could be, but knocking on screen can be done one handed. Suppose you could set it up to do it both ways and have the option to do it the way that is beneficial at the moment. The wave way you don't need Nova, so that might be a bonus.
I know, that's why I said you don't need Nova, might be a bonusThe wave doesn't need nova it's stock b built in.

Nova Prime has gestures you can program. A couple I use...You know what I would steal from LG though for my Note 5 is the way LG allows you to reconfigure the home keys (albeit they're on screen) and especially the ability to add one that brings down the notification drawer. That was so handy for a large phone.

I believe you can with root -- without it I don't think it is possible.
I though rooting the Verizon Note 5 was impossible at this time?
