Is there any info on the Emerson EM756 7" tablet?

AC Question

I saw some new Emerson EM756BK tablets in Big Lots this weekend on sale for $29! It runs Android 5.1, 1024x600 resolution screen, an unknown quad-core processor, and 8GB of internal memory, with a microSD card slot.

I can't find anything out about this tablet. The specs seem comparable to the Amazon Fire tablet being advertised for Black Friday for $35, but this has the benefit of not being covered in ads by Amazon. But The Amazon Fire gets okay reviews for the price and reviews say it has 8-9 hours of battery life, better than Amazon lists it as. I have no idea what processor this Emerson tablet uses and how good the battery life is - some of the RCA 7" tablets only get 4 hours of battery life - half the battery life the Amazon Fire gets.

Is there any info at all yet on this tablet? Obviously at this price the specs won't be great, but I'd like to know how smoothly the OS runs, basic games, and how is the battery life. And does this include a gyroscope for gaming? Even my cheap Polaroid 4" includes that to enhance gaming, so I would hope so.

Thanks guys - I forgot I had an account here so I just logged in. I'm the OP. The above link to the specs mention a "gravity sensor" - does this mean an accelerometer? What's the difference? Will this tablet work with games that use tilt?

How does that processor rate?

CPU: 4 cores; Rockchip RK3126 rk312x; Max: 1008.0 MHz; Min: 216.0 MHz
GPU: Mali-400 MP; ARM; OpenGL ES-CM 1.1; OpenGL ES 2.0

1008 MHz would be 1.008 GHz speed, which is slightly less than the Fire's 1.3 GHz, so the Fire might give you better performance. The Fire also has 1GB of RAM compared to 512MB in the EM756.

I think a gravity sensor is essentially the same thing as an accelerometer. You should be able to play normal tilt games on it.

Thanks for the replies. I also see the RCA Voyager II has Android 5.0 and the same resolution screen, plus it has 1GB RAM. I'm thinking the RCA might be the one I go with. My budget is near zero due to a very expensive Christmas coming up, but the RCA looks like it should give okay performance for basic tasks and casual light gaming. I think the dealbreaker for the Emerson is the 512MB RAM, and total lack of any info on it. At least the RCA is sold on Amazon and Wal-mart so there's lots of info and reviews on it to pick up some tips and learn about it's quirks.

I bought one of these (at $30). They are pretty much crap: bad display (lousy clarity and very angle-sensitive), they feel cheap and "plasticy", mine keeps changing it's MAC address (which almost warranted it a flight into a wall - several times), and it's sluggish and slow to the point of almost being non-responsive at times.

I only bought this for (second) a wireless MIDI controller (Lemur was on sale), so I didn't need a lot of bells and whistles. That said, at the current time, I'd feel bad even giving this to a 5 year old as they would pick up on the suck factor straight away.

If you like crap, this is a must buy.
For me, as an owner (and the owner of a proper iPad), I'd pass this up if I saw it at a Five Below.

I don't want to sound too pessimistic...so I have a positive addendum: I'd say it's a great tablet for a dog.
