Is there any way I can listen to songs on youtube and use other apps at same time?

Yes download pvstar+ app and it is connected to youtube , and is controlled via pull down menu so you can search web in your browser separately.and music stays playing in background. Works in my gingerbread cell and jelly bean tab.:)

Do you ever have a problem with the app not playing the videos? For some reason it will play the first song on my play list and then it stalls out and won't go down the list. I then try playing the songs manually and it constantly loads but does nothing.

@roblox84 I'm new and I can't see this is going into the thread to answer your question but I'm answering: yes, I have the problem where it will play it only once and never again on certain videos. If I don't turn it off myself, but the app stops playing maybe because I use the video recorder or take a phone call, it will start back up. I can pause, repeat, etc., no problem. But once I leave that particular video I can't get back because it says the person didn't make the video compatible for the device. UNLESS I RESTART my phone! yay! So worth it for the Jeff Buckley Grace album. :)

I answered you below #22 before I found out how to reply with quote. But... Restart the phone it will work again ONCE :)

This is on my tablet. Open game or whatever. Open iHeartRadio, play station or song. Open tabs where everything you've done that day is scrolled. (the little square button to the right at bottom of tablet). Find the game page, or whatever, click on it. The only problem I've had is a commercial might come on that needs sound will forcibly stop music. I just stop add and open up tabs again to music tab hit play and go back to game tab u were playing.

Yes, the reason why you can't have windows side by side (different apps) and truly multi task like you can in Windows is because the Android OS handles these activities one at a time to prevent apps from destroying your battery life.

.

MAKES Some sense, but how much battery would, say, reading a book really consume?

Jasmine, a YouTube app on iOS, had this ability. But then Google sent them a message telling them to remove that feature. For some reason Google doesn't want people playing YouTube in the background. Not sure why.
the reason why is in case u have a recording app and u try to record youtube audio.
