Is there any way to change the black font on dark grey background?

I'm more and more troubled by the frequent choice of black text on very dark gray that I keep running into on a variety of apps - often in Date/Time fields, that are all but illegible to me. Is that a developer choice, or a system default in Android or the DX, and can it be changed?

I sure hope so! I too find this really annoying.

Does anyone know whether this is a "feature" of stock Android 2.1, or is it something Motorola or Verizon did, thinking it would look cool and go with the bad boy "Droid X" image they were creating for this phone?

Sorry to hear you are sharing my pain, but relieved to know I'm not the only one in the world troubled by this.

Pretty sure it's a Verizon customization to make it more "Droid"-esque. Stock is much more colorful (and legible).
