Is this a viable alternative to an iPad?

Here's my situation - I'm a teacher and a writer, so saving up for an iPad will take me forever. It's a lot easier to justify the N7 pricetag vs. the iPad. Here's what I would use it for:
  • meeting notes
  • email
  • calendar
  • games
  • opening and reviewing docs on the go
  • attendance in class via wifi
  • connecting to projector to show short video clips or class presentations
  • games - I LOVE playing games on my phone and I imagine this would be better on my eyes

Thoughts? Opinions?

FWIW I bought myself mine Thursday after reading an intense thread at work (a major open source company), more than one person said he'd ceased using an iPad 3gen as much after getting an N7. I like mine.

You'll be able to do all you mentioned with one caveat. The ICS mail client worked with Exchange mail systems, but they broke it in JB. There are a couple of bugs due to be fixed, soon we hope. I wouldn't let that deter you, but for some who want this for work (me) its a little obstacle.

Some local Staples stores have the 8gb version for $199 which is how I jumped on one after 10 minutes ponder.

BTW, yesterday I installed some Tegra3 games, Dead Trigger, ZEN BOUND 2... gorgeous! The Nvidia tech demo Glowball will seal the deal, trust me. :D
