I had Gear 2 Neo which I enjoyed a lot but the looks was horrible. Am impressed with the looks of LG watch urbane and tried it. I loved everything about android wear but I really missed answering calls from watch (Needed this as I work in lab where there is no phone signal, so I leave the phone outside in work room). Is Gear S2 as good as android wear wrt notifications and navigation? . I know ok Google can't be matched by S-voice, but is it any better now? .

I also came from the Gear 2 Neo, and bought the Gear S2 3g. You will need the 3g variant to get the phone calls like you want, since the regular S2 does not have that function.

That said, I'm liking everything about it better than the Gear 2 Neo. The interface is way better. The dial is very intuitive for moving around the watch. Not all apps have widget, but you can set a few key ones that allow quick access to certain applications. What this means is you can set widgets for calendar, music player, s-health, weather, flipboard, heart rate, and those are set as screent. When you click the watch on, turn the dial once, you are at quick settings, turn it another notch and you are on the weather screen, turn again you are on music player, etc.

You will have the same negatives on the watch regarding apps. There are a few more apps than the Neo, but still very limited, and tons of watchfaces.

I do feel like S-voice is better, and it works better for sending text messages. By the way, the notifications are much improved. The messaging has an actual app that lets you see a conversation string in bubble, like on a phone.

Literally, the only thing I'm missing from the Gear 2 Neo is the IR blaster to control the TV. Other than that, I feel like every aspect is an improvement over the Gear 2 Neo.

Thanks for your reply. I also ordered 3G classic watch and waiting for arrival. I am with t-mobile (I ordered outside t-mobile) . If we get a new sim card I guess we will get a new number also with it. Few questions here
1) How can we still take calls on our phone number if the new sim card has different number.
2) Can we respond to what's app and other messaging clients.
3) Is there a dedicated navigation app? .

Thanks

I believe the only app that supports reply to text is the stock TW messaging app. Others have had varying success with hangouts after installing Android wear.

Which one did you order? The 3G Gear S2 only comes in the "sport" version. If you ordered the "classic" version then it will not have any esim and it won't take calls as the classic is a non-3g version and doesn't have the speaker. You'll see the call come up but you'll have to answer it on your phone.

The Gear S2 has HERE Maps, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm not too impressed with SVoice. I have the Gear 2 Neo and got my wife the Gear S2 3G (Verizon) and I agree it is better in almost every way. However, I've never been put off by the looks of the Neo. I get a lot of compliments on it actually or a lot of people mistake if for the Apple Watch (even months before the Apple Watch was released). The fact that the non-3G versions of the Gear S2 cannot make/take calls because of no speakerphone is a HUGE bummer in my opinion. There should be a 3G version, and then the regular Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic should be able to take/make calls just like the previous version could. But they left that out and that's a big disappointment. SVoice is okay for basic stuff but it doesn't compare to Google Now on AW in terms of speed and accuracy.

The UI of the new Gear S2 is killer. The 3G version is maybe a tad too thick for my taste but the width/size is nice and fairly universal. A week after getting my wife the 3G version, I disconnected the line from the device (since I bought it at full retail and not under a 2 year contract) so now there's no monthly payments and the phone call things still works in Bluetooth range which is helpful more than you think and the call quality and audio levels are great.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think that amazon seller may have a misleading description there. So far, no classic version of the s2 has been available with 3G. Only the "sport" models. A classic S2 with 3G is supposed to be forthcoming, and may be available in S. Korea now, but as this is refurbished, I'm worried you may have been mislead.

Agreed. If there were a 3G version of the Classic, I think we would have heard about it.
