Is this excitement normal for launches?

Why do I not see them doing that? Cause verizon isn't happy if they cant stuff V-cast up your craw against your will?

The funny thing is that Verizon could totally just release Vcast on the Android Market as an app, and work on making it good enough that people would want to use it. Some of their content deals (e.g. with the NFL) have a ton of promise as a product that people would want to pay for.

But instead they permo-install the app on everyone's phone whether they want it or not, and create a lot of customer resentment. In the end they probably get less subscriptions then if they'd just shut up and concentrate on making Vcast a winning product.

The excitement for the Nexus One was pretty high. Here's a test: If Verizon releases it at $200 or less with a 2 year contract then they are serious about this phone's success. If they release it for $300 with a 2 year contract, I believe they will be less so.

I agree with this. I think that they wont want to take away from the Droid line, so it wont get as much advertising from them.

The less people know about this phone the easier I will get one. :)

Agreed. The GN forums are turning into a horrid place full of complaining about the number of grey specs in the frame being an odd number, to the GN being very disappointing because it could cause a rare and incurable ear fungus that makes you ooze jellybeans and rainbows out of the side of your head. No hate though :) Just all that there is to do now is have some patience and wait for it to come out. It will be good for everyone!

Exactly what I'm hoping for. The phones that get tons of hype often end up getting backordered, so if you're not quick enough, you'll have to wait an extra week or two to get one, if not longer. So, I wouldn't mind too much if Verizon neglected to hype the Nexus very much, if it means it won't be hard to get on day one.

On the other hand, Verizon not backing it very well could cause Google to decide to no longer release Nexus devices on Verizon, which would kinda suck, as well...

No kidding. I have never seen so many people blasting a phone that's not even out yet. The people that have seen it say the screen is great, pentile and all. If the phone doesn't work for you, don't buy it. Just wait for a ROM to come out for your current device.

This phone is hyping itself. Verizon could just put it up for sale with no advertising at all and it would be back ordered in the blink of an eye.
