I don't understand the question. Isn't the IMEI number just the hardware number for the phone and has no connection to the user. Used mostly for stopping a stolen phone from working on the network regardless of the SIM being used.

Is this in reference to the thread over on xda? ATT is not going to replace your phone because you SUSPECT it might develop the random shutdown problem.
