Yeah that's normal always happens on my Samsung on T-MobileI'm new to T-Mobile so wondering if this is normal? I have strong Wi-Fi signal but notice that the 4G LTE icon would occasionally pop up.
I understand that when wifi is weak the radio would switch to mobile signal. So I started the speed test app and Wi-Fi strong, see screen capture.

I don't see it on my factory Unlocked
With Tmobile.. !
Realize that wifi and cell signal are two separate things. They operate completely independently. The display isn't telling you which one you're on; it's just telling you the signal strength/status of each system, independently.
Is this a problem for you?
Not a problem in regards to data usage against my account as I have unlimited. It just seems to indicate the device may not be hold a steady Wi-Fi signal, even when strong, so is using the mobile data signal in conjunction. Or, maybe it's an app running in the background that is using the mobile data instead of the Wi-Fi to get around my personal network.
Just wondering as to why both data signals are being used by the S10.
Wait a minute--why do you think that what you see means "both data signals are being used"?
Ah. You picture didn't indicate that the cellular arrows showed usage.
Regardless, the cellular network has all kinds of housekeeping to do that's unrelated to you making a call or an app using data. And what you describe is the signal waxing and waning, and sometimes presenting 4G and sometimes not.
It's no mystery that the cellular portion flashes, and it doesn't mean it has anything directly to do with your current usage.
Have you looked at Advanced Settings in Connections?![]()
High speed and high strength aren't the same thing. If you're near the router, the strength will be high, whether the internet connection is good or terrible. Conversely, if you have a weak WiFi signal, but no interference, you can still get good speed. If the signal is strong enough to capture the noise or interfering signal, it's noise-free and interference-free. Signal strength only matters when it's at the point that, any lower, it's going to drop out. With a digital signal you have either full signal or no signal. (If you ever see the signal "going digital" on TV, you'll notice that it's a small portion of the picture it happens to and only for an instant - a noise burst is as long as part of a single scan line. When the signal gets worse than that you're left with a 'still' of the last frame the set received, but in a cellphone, once the sound is over, either you hear the next one or you hear silence. [Not to be confused with the 'underwater effect' you get with CDMA.])My wifi signal was strong, see speed test pic.
