fully charged and unplugged at 2.45 A.M.
wake up at 8:45 and the phone wont even turn on. completely dead.

i configured it to be running of the bare essentials before sleeping, but i notice that when i kill things like friendster, facebook and slacker radio, they just keep popping back up in the running column. its also running of my wifi.

please help.

No that is not normal. I unplugged at noon yesterday and ran till 2am with 22% left on teh battery - and I was using it. Search for blockbuster, there is a runaway process that you might have (Open up the blockbuster app, update it, set it not to automatically update). Check the battery tips and tricks etc. stuff. You shouldnt have to kill processes, stuff you don't need just shouldnt be there, and running processes shouldnt be eating up your battery unless they are updating, downloading, or broken

thank you for the feedback.

i did the blockbuster thing already.

is there anyway to stop things like htc facebook, friendster and Flickr from running.. ? or even a way to delete completely.

Yu can go in setting > account / sync and set them not to update or to update once a day etc. That is where the real battery drain should be coming from. new ROMS or rooting will let you kill completely, but if you have not turned it on, provisioned it, take it off of your desktop and it isnt set to update then it should nto affect your battery. It will take up RAM, but not battery.

thats the thing. those apps arent there in account/sync. i have stopped them . but they still show up when looking in settings >applications>manage applications>running... there i see a long list of things i dont understand including the ones i already mentioned.

Android will run stuff that is set to run, but will idle it if it is not being used. I am told that we shouldn't worry about this so much. If you go into setting > about phone > battery > battery use you will seewhat percentage of 100% each app has been using. If the ones you are worried about DO NOT show up here i wouldnt worry. These are the ones eating battery that you need to manage

make sure to disable downloading in background for apps... that drained tons of battery for me... im actually getting pretty battery life... last night, i went for 7-8 hrs on 50% battery life... but other days, i'll be down to 50% after 3 hrs... still figuring it out @.@

That is a real good guide to get you started on the way to gaining battery life. A custom rom and root will only help further. This is something that the user has to put some effort into.

The phone life is not very good at all out of the box, and it shouldn't be that way because the majority of users out there will just give up, because they don't know or desire to put the necessary work into improving their phone.

HTC will realize this once they see how many returns they will have for this phone when the numbers come out next week. I'm sure they were expecting a somewhat high rate of returns already though.

yes that link was helpful at least i hope so. i did all the tips. and am doing a bump charge. We will see if it makes a difference.. either way thanks again.

^ I too keep mine plug in at night and also uses as my alarm clock. This way you when you get up you will have a full charge to start the day.

Yeah, I used all those tips too. Left my TB unplugged last night. Went to bed at 12:30am woke up at 7:30am and only lost 10%. Also got over 7 hours of use yesterday and only down to 18% before I plugged it back in.

Still have live wallpaper running and lots of widgets. But my accounts are set to sync every 4 hours except for gmail and google voice.
