So been floating through here all day and everybody who has felt a display model says its AMAZING and this is all something we were expecting so i all know we are getting it! But my question is do you think the average consumer would come into a store and see the HTC One (it is an eye catcher from a distance) and go pick it up and have the same feeling as us? If they do then this phone can beat out alot of other phones and im hoping that will be the case. Im sure the ATT stores that started selling today have seen some crazy demand!

I had substantial hands on time with one today and the reviewers are right, it is an incredible phone. The good news for HTC is the sales people in the store I visited seemed very excited about the HTC One and literally ALL of them offered to help me learn about the phone with a personal demo or answer any questions. HTC seems to have at least won over the reps in my local store and that is a HUGE statement to how good the One is and the power they're putting behind it. As someone who has years of managerial experience in sales if the people on the floor are excited about it then HTC will have a punchers chance. I sure hope for their sake they sell enough to keep pushing along, maybe pay off some long-term debt and rebuild shareholder confidence. If they can do that and raise brand awareness then I think they can start making a serious comeback.

What he said. ^^ I completely agree. The display is an absolute knockout. It caught my eye the minute I saw it. Honestly, I really don't think HTC has to go all out to sell this device from a marketing perspective. This device sells itself and if the phone is positioned properly in stores, the customer will take notice. I had a similar experience as well today as the sales rep was very knowledgable and was excited to show me the device. Word of mouth can be very powerful and I have no doubt word will get out that this is the phone to get in 2013!

i still think the S4 will outsell it by a large margin. not because its a superior phone but because samsung has superior marketing and brand recognition.

I went to a Verizon premium store in the foothills mall in Tucson and they said they are not getting the HTC one. Tried to sell me on the s4. Just saw my first HTC commercial here at the movies, not anything spectacular like HTC needs.

There were no less than 10 customers in the AT&T store, and I played with the HTC One for 30 minutes, and no one came over.
The employee even had to login to Google, and it was 2:00 p.m.
This may be HTC's Palm Pre. Palm died with the greatest mobile OS. HTC isn't marketing and could easily die with the greatest hardware.

I unfortunately agree with hodan. I live in New York City. To date I have not seen one commercial for the ONE. I haven't seen any models and hardly any posters in Sprint Stores (I am a Sprint customer so I haven't looked in AT&T or T-Mobile stores). I have seen one demo model in one Best Buy store and no real signage to advertise the phone at Best Buy. The only time that I have found anything about the ONE is when I am searching the internet for information about the phone. This could be the greatest smartphone in the world, but nobody will know about it unless they are specifically looking for it. HTC apparently hasn't been marketing the phone strong enough. I am sure that when the S4 is being pre-ordered or even before that, we will see, read and hear about it from many different sources. In fact, I read that Samsung is going to rent space in many Best Buy stores where their employees will sell and help customers with Samsung products.

BTW, I miss the Pre's Web OS too.

Yep, they'll be in Best Buys all over the country. Kind of like how Apple has its own store, except you could say Best Buy is Samsung's store. HTC is doing something similar as well, they're going around the country's high end malls and making booths promoting the One. Only difference is they have to leave after a certain while, while Samsung's store is here to stay.

What's being overlooked though is that this phone hasn't technically been launched yet on U.S. soil. I'm sure after it's released we'll see ads a little more frequently, at least I hope for HTC's sake. If it's June or July and it's still like this then well you can chalk it up as yet another marketing blunder. I saw a commercial for the One today so maybe it's a sign for things to come. Although if I were an average customer and didn't read too much about phones and tech or wasn't on the lookout for One commercials, that commercial wouldn't have enticed me to pick one up or go to a carrier and ask about it. It was actually very forgettable, I probably would've forgotten I had seen it by the next commercial break. But since HTC doesn't have the funds for Samsung like marketing, most of how this phone is going to sell will be through word of mouth. We're about to see just how important that still is in a day and age where commercials move units.

There was an HTC one commercial during gi Joe, but it only featured boomsound and ended quickly. Only ad I've seen.

Yep, that's the one I saw too. Underwhelming considering the situation and competition HTC is up against.
