Is this the tablet for me?

I would go new. It would have to be a big discount to entice me.

Agreed 100%. I purchased my S3 off an online marketplace used, and I was okay with that because I switch out my phones every couple of months. But with my Note 10.1 I plan on using it heavily for as long as it will hold up and operate properly. I want to know the history of it and be the only owner. As a side note, I bought my Note 10.1 in August of last year, and it still makes me a little giddy when I do stuff with it. The excitement just is not wearing off for me. It's the craziest thing because that has never happened to me with electronics before.

$70 is certainly not enough for me to do Refurb. I would however consider it if it was around $299.00

I assume your external HDD has its own power source...yes? I ask because the posts I've read indicate that the GN 10.1 will not provide enough power to run most (all?) unpowered HDDs.

Yes that is correct. It has its own power source plugged into the wall. An Iomega 1TB drive. Works flawlessly.

A device junkie with experience on a lot of different tablets (BlackBerry Playbook, Le Pan, Acer A500, Toshiba Excite, Sony Tablet S...) chiming in. I still have an Asus Transformer (quad core with the keyboard dock) along with my 32 gig Note 10.1, and I can absolutely say no other tab comes close to the smoothness, speed, stability and versatility of my Note. I got the Note 2, also, because I love this device so much and wanted the pair.

Fantastic responses, everyone.
I am finally ready to purchase a tablet, and have been so nervous regarding my choice, given the plethora of options out there.
As a Graphic Designer, I have been incredibly interested in the GN10.1, thanks to the SPen, Multiwindow, etc... but again, the display/ resolution was really what was scaring me away!!
I was coming to the forums today to go through my options, and was going to ask pretty much the same questions as the OP.
After reading everyone's feedback, I think the answer is pretty clear.
Thanks all!

I got mine a week ago. I came from the Asus transformer family and have thoroughly enjoyed it. But with the Note, I find it can do so many wonderful things. How practical is the multiview? How many times did you watch a Youtube video instructing you to do something else and you wanted to do it right on the spot? Well before, you had to shut off the video, then launch whatever app you had to launch. Now you can leave the video running and run the 2nd application on the side. The S Pen is wonderful. Yesterday, I noticed our business website had some spelling errors. Rather than emailing my boss the link and telling him where the errors were, I took a snapshot of the page, and used my S pen to highlight the mistakes in yellow, then emailed it to him...all on the Note.

Yes, the clarity isn't as sharp as the new Ipad or the Asus Infinity, but it's not like it's blackwhite vs High def difference. It's still a very good looking screen. I'll take the functionality and many features over the resolution anyday. As for the plastic body and cheap feel? Well I have it in a nice case so that won't matter.

So far, absolutely no complaints, other than trying to learn all the features this thing can do. I've had to Youtube a few videos just to learn all the tips and tricks of the S pen. Sorry Apple, but your devices are too simple. That's why so many people love it. I'd rather have a device that is rich in features that I actually have to sit down and LEARN.

Hey Nighthawk - I pulled the trigger and ordered my GN10.1 and should have it later this week. Did you end up picking one up? Has it met your expectations based on the replies here? Looking forward to getting mine soon, but was curious on your thoughts (if you did get one)...

I owned several tablets such as Ipad,AsusTransformer etc. and the one that's the best for me is the Note 10.1(3G)
