Where did you hear that?

Android is a Google operating system. Why would it not support Google applications?

Pretty much every review I've seen talks about Gmail, zooms in and out of google maps, and does a google voice search. Where did you hear that it wouldn't support Google apps?

You didn't look very hard, VZW's website has the following specs on the product page.

* Google Maps with Navigation, Latitude, Google Talk; Gmail; YouTube™, Google Calendar, Google Search

That's absolutely not true. What you likely heard is that the HTC e-mail widget on the home screen does not do gmail. That's it. Gmail works just fine on the phone, just not the HTC app, unless you do it as IMAP.

hmmmm... ok thanks...
is there a way to delete the htc mail program off the phone?
just to clarify, the incedible with sync with gmail and the other google services seamlessly, just like the nexus one does?

The Incredible is a Nexus One with Sense UI, a CDMA radio, internal storage, and a better camera. No features are removed, unless you really want your trackball to glow in colors, as the optical pad does not do that.

i think i will stick with ordering the nexus one...just went to vw store and played with the incredible.....seems like the ui is a bit convoluted to me.....thanks everyone

Yes, you can use gmail with the sense mail widget

And GMail works fine for me on the Sense mail app and widget.

Yes, you're right....you can use the Sense mail widget with gmail. You just have to go into the mail app and add the gmail account. Then gmail will show up on the pick list in the Sense mail widget. You'll probably want to turn off notification for either the gmail mail app or the native mail app so that you don't get duplicate notifications.

Looking at the specs of both, the Inc is the better device. A friend has the N1, the sound to me is as good as the Inc, but I had 3g more than she did, her data kept cutting out.

Oops! :D
