Is This Water Damage?

Hello All!

I'm just after a bit of quick advice if possible. My phone stopped working around 2 weeks ago with two small strips on the touch screen not responding to touch. I was in bed at the time so not exactly a wet place! (yes yes, you can make some jokes here!). I've never got my phone wet (never dropped it, don't take it into the shower etc etc) and yet when I sent it back my carrier is refusing to repair it as they claim it's water damage. I simply can't understand how it could of been water damaged so a little frustrated and confused. I've got these pictures that I'd like to just confirm 100% is water damage (and no other way of this happening)

It certainly looks like water damage to me but yeah once again I'm at a loss to how that would of happened.

Any help would be appreciated!
Daniel.

That's a tough call. They usually don't say anything unless one of the detector discs are tripped (red). I'd argue that it's not and make them cover the warranty.

Red stripes can get tipped from humidity but I second the above post. Ask if the strips have been activated etc

- Android Central App. Remember courage is contagious.

EE have sent the phone back to the store - despite the fact I asked for photos of the strips / discs. I know it sounds a bit odd but the whole things seems iffy to me. The device was working in my hands fine, then post 2.3 update the touch screen just started failing. (literally one moment working, update - not working). I know there is no wide spread issue but yeah, I took care of the device! Does anyone know what exactly has corroded here? It looks like the volume button side - would that be right? (if so the only explanation I could possible think of is one day in the rain I had slightly wet hands once I started the use the phone (due to the rain) and increased the volume? But that doesn't seem very logical or likely?

I would argue that too.

Also are the water I indicator strips visible with out taking the phone apart? I have yet to find them.

from what ever phone I feel like using today.
