Is your speakerphone loud enough?

Which phone are you coming from? My Storm has a great speakerphone...about the only thing that was good about it. But my gf tells me that she can hear me crystal clear on this phone, and she almost didn't believe me when I told her I had her on speaker.

Part of me is hoping that some 3rd party sound manager will push the amplifier properly to utilize that speaker to its fullest potential.
Hey Chez you are among one of the lucky ones, my speaker portion of the phone is terrible, I dont even have to tell anyone I have them on it they automatically know because they start to hear the echo and if it's a three way call they hear each other doubling when speaking. I am so annoyed right now.

Take it back!

I was hoping I would hear people having better output from their speaker so I could do the same, but after these responses that would be pointless.

Hahaha
It's not often you see "oomph" used online. :D

Lol. This thread motivated me to finally download the PowerAmp app and see if that helped matters any and it certainly did. Fantastic app. Only problem is that it's really only for music files and not a whole lot else. So if lack of musical "oomph" (lol) over the loud speaker is your main beef, try PowerAmp. I love it already!

I'm going to take it back and pray I don't end up with something worse like dead pixels etc, that's why I was trying to deal with it, I even overlooked the light leakage I have coming out the bottom of my phone but this is over bearing the constant complaining from people I speak to, they even laugh and say you gave up your iphone4 for that! I would do it again in a heart beat iphone4 sucks compared to this power house. *sighs* such a nice phone with these stupid issues

i hear ya, thought i could just ignore the irritation since i really do more texting and emailing than talking on the phone, but it's driving me nuts. In fact my son was heading to Brazil and was on a layover in Texas so he called and I put him on speaker so the whole family could hear and talk to him. We where in a consultation room at my husbands clinic so that he could talk also, and the volume was so low that people walking in the hall made too much noise and we had a hard time hearing him. At the same time I had my older daughter on the Droid X speaker, that is now my husbands, so that she could hear and talk to him too....and she was so loud my son on the TBolt could hear her but she had a very hard time hearing him and missed some of the conversation. At the beginning of the call we had tried to plug the TBolt into an external speaker, but of course it disabled the mic and he couldn't hear us. Irritating.

That right there gives me hope that a custom ROM will push some more juice to the speaker.

That's annoying and to be honest I'm way too ocd-ish to continue to ignore something that is irking the hell outta me, we paid too much to ignore the things that are bothering us, I will take the risk and return it and keep returning it until they get it right. I am totally pissed please forgive any typos.

let us know how your replacement goes.....others have had mixed results on them....some get a "good" one and some still have a problem. i really hope you get a good one and that it solves your problem. although the auxiliary jack disabling the mic is fast becoming a deal breaker irritant for me. i did do the tty fix, but find for whatever reason the call is then staticy, at least the trial i made in the car. music played fine through the car speakers, but the call was terrible. sigh. good luck!!!

Thanks Full,

I am going early in the morning and will pot back here with update:) I am scared to death to return it, I was thinking to test it there and if the replacement is worse to take my original phone back lol not a bad idea at all lmao. this is sad smh.

I also made a reply over on this thread that is dealing specifically with the speakerphone echo... but I'm on my second TB with major speakerphone echo issues. Today the VZW tech I was on the phone with confirmed it was doing the same thing with one of the TBs in their office. So check out the other thread since I don't want to hijack this one.

Lovy, I'm anxious to hear if your replacement fixed the problem? Mine didn't!!!

THIS WORKED FOR ME.

turn the volume down while on the phone before you hit speaker, then hit speaker and slowly volume up.

i have found that if you are able to increase the speaker volume as opposed to switching to speaker w/ the volume maxed out.., it seems to be alot louder

Possible?

This is a good thought....could you have had the volume all the way up when you started it and maybe blown the speaker. Possible?

I tried this but got no improvement.

FYI - I replaced my phone this morning like VZW tech support suggested. (3rd TB in 5 days). I went to Store #2 in my area but they were out of TBs. So I went to the original store hoping that the 3rd time is the charm. It was too difficult to test in the speakerphone in the store because it was so loud. But now that I'm home, this phone is MUCH WORSE on speakerphone than the first two.

So I am convinced that store has a bad batch. I am going to go to Store #3 this afternoon, but it is a little farther of a drive. I'm hoping this will solve my problem with my 4th TB.

I would say that with the speaker area being that large, I expected it to be louder than what it is. its ok, though I would prefer if could get louder.

I have the Raxr Maxx and the speaker part of the phone sucks. For skype and games it is too loud at times, but for speaker phone it is not worth it. Wish there was an app to correct it.

htc is infamous for it's poor speaker volume. i had an htc windows phone that had the same problem. my og droid was twice as loud and vibrates harder too.

I had the Blackberry Tour 9630 before I moved to the Thunderbolt and the Tour's external speaker is WAY louder than the Thunderbolt. They aren't even in the same ballpark.

The speaker on the tbolt is not that large. The speaker is only a very small section of the right corner under the kickstand (when back of phone is facing you. The rest is just design.

I simply downloaded a equalizer and played with the settings...now my soaker phone is much better sure playing music out movies...don't use ut to talk though, using a galaxy.
