Hi all..

My phone updated to Android v10. Ever since, the notifications at the top of the screen are slow to come up. In other words, I unlock the phone and in the top left I see AT&T..after a few seconds I'll see Instagram or some other notifications. But most importantly...GMAIL isn't updating like it used to. I have to go into the app to pull down new messages. If I try to wait it out and see when the phone decides to update, it is 3 or 4 hours before I see the notification light.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks.

I'll give that a try. So for any apps I'm having a problem with sync or notification I should turn off battery optimization? Are there any system apps I should turn battery optimization off?

Thanks.

It may depend on the phone. Different manufacturers might be more aggressive about killing apps in the background in an effort to save battery. Huawei and other Chinese manufacturers are the most notorious culprits, but Samsung has been increasingly doing this as well.

Also make sure that you don't have Gmail set to check every X minutes - set it to 0. That means that it will be getting push notifications from the server as the emails arrive.

Also in device care make sure it's not a app put to sleep.
