Issue with Google & Settings

You want use a service and don't want to see ads nor want to pay for ad free YouTube premium.

Good luck since no one can argue with that kind of thinking

haha, so there is the over the air tv that you watch for free, there is netflix that has no ads but you pay for the service. think of youtube as that. heck, even cable tv you have to pay to watch, and you have ads. i don't don't see why youtube having 2 versions is a problem. plus youtube premium also gives you original content and Google muisc streaming w/o ads. what's the problem?

I turned YouTube off.
And I listen to music on the radio.
Not my phone.
Wait till you retire.
Everything that needs to be paid for, you start to quit using them.

Na I don't mind paying for good things :).

I subscribe to YouTube Premium and No Ads!
I subscribe to Google Play Music.
I subscribe to Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop CC.
I subscribe to Microsoft Office 365 and get 1 Terabyte cloud storage included.
I subscribe to Amazon Prime.
I purchase the ad free options on every app that offers that option.

And I took early retirement 20 years ago, so I'm definitely retired! :D

I am actually testing out the Office 365 / 1 TB thing right now. I am planning to keep it as another cloud storage for backup (Google main backup / Onedrive for redundancy .. Office then wouldn't hurt to have with it as well) :P.

I do pay for office 365, OneDrive is my backup cloud, along with Amazon prime photos. Google drive is main storage for everything.

Yep. I have kept everything in Google Drive but decided i should have some redundancy. With how much i lock my life down it was kind of comical to myself on not having it backed up elsewhere. iCloud Drive is an option but they pretty much use Google so that ruins the redundancy + iCloud Drive for Windows is kind of.. well... ****. It has no progress bar for uploading and won't go higher then 15 Mbps on upload (which really hurts when you have a 1 Gbps up/down connection at home).

OneDrive seems to allow no limit and was rocking 350-400 Mbps upload last night. I also like being able to have an @outlook.com email. I could make that a professional email versus what I have used in the past :).

Yeah exactly radio has ads. So, they are evil too? You just contradict your own point of complaining about YouTube has ads.

I'm a long ago retired Microsoft Windows Systems Engineer so I naturally have Windows 10 as my main computer system and of course OneDrive is the built in cloud storage system for Windows 10. I keep everything on my computer in the OneDrive folder and whatever I do instantly saves to OneDrive in the cloud.

My phone photos also store to OneDrive and Google Photos at the same time. So my photos automatically store in two places at the same time. And I also run Windows 10 backup on my main computer which backs up all my work files on a local drive too.

Google backup is used just for my phone photos and of course my phone photos also get backed up on Microsoft OneDrive and in that chain of backups also gets backed up locally through Windows 10 Backup. I'm a great believer in redundancy.

Yep. I'm glad to see this year Microsoft added encryption to data at rest on their servers for One Driver consumer customers. That helped with my decision as well.

Almeuit, since you are using OneDrive, you are aware that if you run the OneDrive app on your phone that you can set it to automatically store your photos on OneDrive as you take them? That way you are automatically storing your photos in Google Photos and Microsoft OneDrive, two separate backups at the same time? You'll also find that OneDrive is much faster than Google Photos.

So what radio do you listen to that both doesn't have ads and you don't have to pay for? Over the air radio has ads, in some cases 50% of their air time is ads. And even pay services like satellite radio has ads on it now.

I find that as a grownup, I have fewer hangups about paying for things that are worthwhile.
