Issue With Moto X Camera and Flash - Help Requested

Hi there. I picked up a new Moto X (2nd Generation) yesterday from a Telus dealer here in Canada and am having an issue with the camera and the flash.

When I take a picture with the flash on (either on "auto" or "on"), the flash seems to be present in the picture and you can see a halo effect from it. I've attached a picture taken with the flash.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I have tried taking pictures with the app that came with the phone and the Google camera phone app as well and the same effect occurs.

The phone software itself is up to date. Here is what it is running:

Android version: 4.4.4
System version: 21.21.42
Build number: KXe21.187-42

Any help would be very much appreciated as I am thinking this could be a hardware defect with the flash and camera lenses not being properly aligned.

Seems like you are getting a reflection from something. This is the rear facing camera?

Yeah, it's the rear facing camera.

I don't think it is a reflection as I have taken multiple pictures in different locations and am still getting the same effect.

Ghost? I haven't had this issue, however I did have some focusing issues. I'm thinking it's most likely a hardware defect.

That's very odd. Certainly seems like a hardware defect. Maybe the flash is bleeding into the camera compartment. At any rate, talk to Motorola's support team. If you are still covered under warranty they will replace the phone no questions asked.

Had the same problem. I turned off HDR when using flash and it went away.

Tried turning it off, but did not resolve the issue. Thinking hardware.

They are sending me a certified like new replacement, which always burns a bit since this phone is brand new. Sorry OP if i hijacked a bit, but it looks like we have identical issues, so i would advise you do the same and request the replacement.
