Ok the reboots happen often with ChompSMS. The phone does a reboot from the boot animation not from the Motorola "M". Does anyone know what could be causing this?

ChompSMS? Sorry for the smart A answer, but uninstall it. See if that helps

Handcent is much better anyway buy i got stock with no issues. If its only when using chomp the delete and go stock for a few days and see what happens. Also i had this issue when i had a task killer on my phone. Deleted and now no reboots.

I get random reboots also. SInce I had the phone on launch day I might have had 4 or 5 reboots??? I have handcent. But I had the reboots prior to getting handcent? ANy ideas what this means

I've had the DX since 7/16...ordered online. I have as a couple of reboots/freezes since then. Called Verizon and they had me do a factory reset. I have slowly reinstalled all apps...No problems since then. I have gotten in the habit of powering down / restarting in the morning after the alarm goes off. I was thinking the random reboots might be a low memory issue. I wish there was an option to power off at night and auto start at a preset time.

Some folks running ATK have reported funky stuff and then were pleased once it was removed. I know the app has the ability to run well, but it wouldn't surprise me if more and more conflicts don't arise as newer more sophisticated devices hit the market. ATK trying to shut stuff down and Moto trying to start stuff up...then, kaboom!

Yeah I removed Chomp and added Handcent but still an issue. I wonder if root did something or of maybe issue with App Protector Pro. Just seems odd not sure if I should replace or not.

Atk is what caused my freezing and reboots. If you got it delete it. No reboots in two weeks after deleting it.

I doubt its chomp I've never had an issue with it before but I could be wrong I just did a reset and the reboots are still happening don't want a replacement but I guess I might need one

It seems my reboots are getting more frequent these days ... at least it boots fast unlike a BB. :)

I am going to wait for the 2.2 update before I dig too much into the issue.

Do you see anyway this could be hardware related? Could root have broken it? Software a patch could fix but hardware I need to exchange it. So big issue is hardware or software issue? Any thoughts?

Any idea if I was to un root it if it would matter? Or if rooting did cause this... Is the damage done then?

Not sure what method you used to root but I used easy root unrooted and it made no difference after looking on android central I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that we rooted I've seen other people post the same issue and have gotten replacements with the issue solved

I used the gui method with the root me un root me buttons.

So now big question is, is this hardware or software....
