Issues After Gingerbread

After updating to Gingerbread when it came out, my phone has been restarting radomnly a few times....it also has shut off when using a Music app (sometimes it goes for weeks without it) recently I've had the issue where when you touch the soft touch buttons and type on the keyboard, it will sometimes stop doing that soft vibrate...i've also had the issue where a Q gets constantly put in.

I had completely restored the phone a few months ago to see if it would fix the restart issue. It did for a while, but it started happening again a few weeks ago. It's been good for about a week, but the other issues happen on and off. Any ideas? Faulty phone that I should get a replacement? Is it worth resetting the phone all over again (big headache since the contacts get messed up even though they're backed up, they come up in multiples although you've joined them in your phone)....

Any thoughts???

Oh I forgot to mention, my data has been going in and out also recently, with the amount of bars changing in the same location!

I have had my Atrix replaced 5 times and still have the same issues. I know I'm am never going to get this phone again. They are all worthless and Motorola doesn't address these issues. You're not the only one. All 5 of mine had the same issues you're having.

thanks...it sounds like it's not worth replacing or doing anything then....that's what i wanted to know..it's the firmware...i have a feeling they are aware of these issues, and haven't been working on a new build bc of ICS....hopefully they've been spending lots of time on that, and the rollout will happen soon!!!! these issues with the Q and the vibrating stopping only happened recently!!! very annoying!!

Trevalkin...no it's not rooted...i spoke with the most ed person at AT&T i've ever spoken with...i had to talk her through what the Warranty replacement process was!!! i got so frustrated i gave up! i did another restore and while some of the issues went away (the q typing), the vibrating and service issues did not...i'm going to go to the store today and request a warranty replacement, since i get out of work early today. I hope ICS fixes some of these bugs.

Just make the Craporola Atrix your last Moto phone. It is a pretty wide-spread issue. It's been posted about at the Motorola Atrix owner's forum and all the admins & support just give the usual "restore your phone." They also say that it could be apps, which is possible but it's a pretty wide spread issue. It was discovered that it had something to do with the kernel. I was rooting for Motorola, but they let me down and will be trying a Samsung phone next.

Motorola seems to like to pump out a crap ton of phones. Look at the Atrix 2 being released like a less than a year after the first one came out with very minor changes. I don't understand why they like to do that. Droid Bionic!!!! Few months later...screw the Bionic Droid RAZR!!!! Droid 4!!!!! Moto-crapping-on-moto.... Yes, I'm a bit bitter. They're almost as bad as HTC and their incredibly over-populated phone lines. Can't they take a lesson from, dare I say it, Apple. Focus on few products and release something good (and every now and then release a half-ass (non)upgrade)

Something off the wall but try cleaning the battery connections real good. It fixed my problems about a year ago and they have never come back.

awaiting my replacement...will do with the battery connections...i love the phone, but I suppose I'd love a Galaxy S II more!

Whenever I read posts like this I wonder why people don't root and unlock their phones and try a rom like cm7. If you're that fed up and can follow instructions, and believe me I'm no expert and I did it, head over to xda forums and try it. I believe that all the issues mentioned in this post would be resolved and you could gain so many other features that your phone doesn't have now. I understand the frustration of not having your phone work out of the box but there are solutions if you want to put in the effort. The Atrix was my first android coming from a blackberry so I was a complete stanger to whole unroot, bootloader unlock talk but after taking time to read a few posts, I did it and will never look back, my phone is faster, less cluttered, and works like it should.

Thanks for the advice. I actually received the replacement phone and it's back to it's original glorious self (happily). The vibration issue was actually the phone itself. This phone's vibration is now much stronger. I also think there was something wrong with my touchscreen, since now it's perfect. I understand that rooting would be better, but I honestly just haven't put in the time to understand what it does and why.
