Issues transferring pics and video from Galaxy s8 to laptop

Hi,

I connected my galaxy s8 to my HP laptop last night to transfer all my pics and videos. I was able to find my phone's files (I think) using file explorer, but out of the thousands of pictures, the laptop would only find and download 500.

I'd really like to get ALL of my pics and vids onto the computer to back them up and then free the space on my phone.

Any ideas are appreciated!
