Issues with 4G LTE and 3G transitioning

Just got my HTC DNA (HTC Deluxe 6435) last Friday and I love it so far. I'm currently on a regional carrier Cellcom with shared 4G LTE services with Verizon. Only issue I'm running into is the 4G LTE and 3G transition when in a low signal area. When in the main part of the city I'll keep 4G at all times with no issues but when I go home is when it starts to annoy me. When upstairs I can keep my 4G signal but when I go to the basement it will go to 3G at <20% signal, which is to be expected. When I go back upstairs, which I know has an adequate 4G signal, my phone will not transition back to 4G until 1.) I'm in a very strong 4G coverage area >60% signal for at least 10-15 mins or 2.) by doing the airplane mode trick to refresh the signal. If my signal is above 25% it will always pick up the 4G with the airplane mode trick. It's not a huge issue at my house since I have WiFi, but what bothers me is when I'm on the highway streaming I'll keep 4G for a bit, but if it transitions to 3G it wont come back for some time when the whole highway is supposedly strong 4G coverage.

I've tried doing my own research for a possible fix but it seems to be isolated to specific devices and carriers with issues. One interesting article was the Sprint Wimax EVO 4G fix where you could dial the ##3282# number and log into the EPST to change the 4G rescan time interval, but these options are non existent when I log into my EPST. I was wondering if there was a similar setting that I would be able to change the 4G signal search options with my DNA or if it's something that is only based on my carriers SIM card programming.

Let me know what you guys think

Thanks in advance

I have similar issues when I choose not to use an available wifi spot...takes forever for 4g or 3g to take iver and sometimes I have to do the toggle in and out of airplane mode thingy...Any advice would be appreciated...sorry I cannot help as I am experiencing similar issues.

Same issues. Switching between the two can actually leave me no signal for 5+ minutes. It's done that since day 1 and it's annoying.

It happens on verizon too. I think it's because when you go from 3g to 4g you are going from one technology to the other. You switch from CMDA to GSM essentially to change from 3g data to 4glte data. The 3g radio has to disconnect and reconnect with the 4g radio.
