Is anyone here having issues with Google messages RCS? Just started today. Note 20 Ultra Verizon. I've tried everything. The issue returns.

What is the issue you've noticed?

What have you tried?

I've tried everything and I'm pretty good with these phones. It's back on for now. Something screwed it up. Perhaps the last update or it can honestly be Verizon, since the phone number is registered for RCS use with Google and the carrier.

Hey that's great.

It still would be nice if you described the problem. Like, RCS isn't letting me see when the other person is typing, or, RCS isn't giving me read noticed. We're left wondering.

RCS chat features weren't connecting period. Was stuck on connecting in settings. Haven't experienced any issues of late.

So the issues have surfaced again. I'm at wits end with it. Google support isn't much help at all. Just give you stuff that has been tried but doesn't work. Now it's stuck at verifying my number. Why do you need to verify my number when it's been working before? I'm on Verizon.

Your not in beta for Google messages?

Yep. I've been in that forever. It works fine for awhile and then gets to where it's not sending anything or receiving. Go into chat features and every time something is going on. Connecting or some other issue like this verifying thing. The number has been verified for over a year. Smh.

Yeah to be expected with beta versions

When you set up RSC through the Google Messages beta did you do the two app method using Activity Launcher?

I just went to the Play Store to see my status. I'm still part of the beta but I no longer have Activity Launcher but everything seems to be working and my status still shows as connected. I'm wondering if you need to bring AL back or if there is something through that app that needs to be changed?

Granted this article is from 2019, oh what a simpler time, but this passage jumped out at me...
Just so it’s clear: there’s no guarantee this method for enabling RCS will work long term. It utilizes a Google server that’s explicitly called “sandbox,” which is a sign that things are likely to change.

RCS can be a pain in the butt...a lot like Bluetooth or the Google Assistant. Some things Android just seem to be destined to be problematic :-\

Apparently there is an issue at Google. I've given up trying to make it work. This is the first time that everything I've tried didn't fix it. Oh well.

Do you have carrier services installed? I have it on my Samsung as they don't come pre-installed like the Google pixels.

Everything is installed. I've had RCS for quite awhile. Something is wrong. A Google tech says lots of people are having issues and they are aware of it

Go into the Play Store and pull up Carrier Services, and make sure it doesn't show the update button. I couldn't get RCS to work on my pixel and after some research that was a suggestion I found. Even though Carrier Services wasn't showing an available update in my Play Store apps, when I pulled it up in a search it did have an update available...that fixed my problem. I definitely think the Carrier Services app is the problem here.

Maybe even try uninstalling then reinstalling the updates.

Yep. Tried all of this. Still not working. I have Verizon looking into it now

I'm on t-mobile and been having the "trying to verify issue for 3 days. Glad I'm not the only one with the problem.
