I'm on t-mobile and been having the "trying to verify issue for 3 days. Glad I'm not the only one with the problem.
What is your "above method" to fix it?I think I was stuck on that screen for a week or so on my pixel, before I used my above method to fix it. My wife's $150 Moto G6 (great phone for the money) set it up and had it working instantly.... just like visual voicemail which didn't want to work on my pixel either.
Things that make you go hmmm....
I have a identical phone that's unlocked with NO carrier services since day 1 with ZERO RCS ISSUES. This is werid to say the least.Go into the Play Store and pull up Carrier Services, and make sure it doesn't show the update button. I couldn't get RCS to work on my pixel and after some research that was a suggestion I found. Even though Carrier Services wasn't showing an available update in my Play Store apps, when I pulled it up in a search it did have an update available...that fixed my problem. I definitely think the Carrier Services app is the problem here.
Maybe even try uninstalling then reinstalling the updates.
Do you have carrier services installed. If so what permissions did you grant it,if any?My RCS just decided to start working again on it's own this morning. The issue had to be at the carrier or server level. I did every single step multiple times before now and nothing would fix it.
It really shouldn't be this challenging to make it work. How many users will know to install carrier services. Is it required for RCS to work? Maybe when turning chat on, carrier services are automatically installed. As much as I love Android, Apple makes it very seamless.

When Google first rolled out RCS in the UK (we were first to get it in 2019) carrier services was vitally important to get RCS to work. Not sure if it is important in the USA but without it in the UK it never used to work. And if it was installed and RCS wasn't working we had to update the carrier services.
I don't know what changes, if any, Google has made but I can only tell you my experience from 2019 to now.
You in the UK or US?That's exactly what I had to do on my pixel to get RCS working properly, I had to update Carrier Services. But the update wasn't showing in my play store apps, I had to do a search in the play store for Carrier Services, then hit the update button (thanks to a tip from here). I've noticed pixels come with Carrier Services installed, but some other phones like my wife's Moto G6 don't.
Although when I turned on RCS on her phone, it activated immediately and has worked flawlessly, without the need to install anything. Not sure what to make of that lol.
