Issues with Spotify/car controls after update?

[Android Central Question]

Since the 9.0 update, I have been having issues with Spotify working with my car (15 Crosstrek) controls.
Songs no longer display on the LCD screen and I cannot use the steering wheel controls to go forward or backward with songs.
Prior to the update, everything worked fine.
Has anybody else had similar issues?

Have you cleared your cache partition and rebooted yet?

I cleared the cache and rebooted. I can use the controls now, but the LCD screen will only show the song info for the first song that plays when connected to bluetooth. When I change songs, the LCD display does not change.

I am having the same issue. I have even deleted the spotify app and reinstalled it, that didn't work, gone thru all the settings in spotify on my phone no luck. I have a 2016 crosstrek

Correction to my previous reply. The controls work for about a minute. After that, the steering wheel controls no longer work. I have to unlock the phone for them to work again. Still having display issues also
