It feels so much better without a case.

Do you have to worry about paint chipping off the phone back when in a case anymore? I've gotten so OCD that I would put a skin on the back and then put in a thin case. it's crazy but did help ensure no chips to anodized aluminum or metal backs. Maybe not necessary with glass backs.

It's not paint.

Yep I loved my Pixel 2 XL just like I love my iPhone XS Max outside of a case... the bad part is I am way too scared to carry it without one lol :P.

I was with my MNML case. I kept holding it up and carefully staring down the edge. It was lifted ever so slightly. The current case I'm using on my new Pixel 3 has a more prounounced lip but it's not much.

To be honest, I don't worry a whole lot. It does cross my mind once in a while. I do know that my last two phones showed no scratches on the lens and I used slim cases. When I examined my 2XL in preparation for sale - it was perfect. No scarches anywhere including the camera and I was using a MNML case.

Even a thin case helps with a lip on the lens, again im a paranoid person so id assume itll scratch. Personally ida rather have a small scratch on the screen than the lens, considering the size a scratch on lens could be disastrous...or so it seems.

good luck let us know how it goes, its very possible nothing could ever happen and its perfect...much like it was with your 2XL.

No im not sure GG exists on lens, but even so GG scratches and still doesnt give the confidence.

Most phones feel better without cases. I use naked skins now since it seems to be the best compromise for me.

I like the way the phone feels naked, but I chicken out most of the time - especially if riding my motorcycle - and put it in the custom case Google sent me.

I'm not sure but check the jerryrigeverything video because he scratches the entire phone

He doesn't do the Pixel 3, just the 3 XL. So, if I assume that the camera glass is the same on both phones, this video implies that it is not easily scratched. Unfortunately, he covers it very quickly and doesn't provide much detail.

This site doesn't let me post a link that jumps to the right spot. Go to 5:10 for the camera glass.

I was a little shocked to see how easy it is to scratch the back. Now there is absolutely no question in mind that a case or skin is warranted. I mean, you can wipe it down so scratches are a little less noticable but they are there. Jump to 2:10 if you need proof.

He does give it a pass though in the end.

Well.... wait. Numerous commenters on that video say the scratches will wash off.

Anyone want to test it? :D

Camera glass should be the same for both models

Phones are too big and slippery, harder to use one handed as phones tend to fly out of your hand. Why risk a $1000 for the sake of a $15 case.

With no case, lay down your phone and it slides off everything.

You go naked.

I will keep my Pixel 3xl in a spegin slim case

It don't slide when I lay it down.
And has some drop protection.
It cost like 15.00 on Amazon.
