There is an app on the Play store that offers the ability (rooted only) to customize the tap-hold Home button to take a Screenshot. How cool is that. No more pressing multiple buttons combo just to take a screenshot.

I found this same request here:
Issue 209470 - android - Customizing the tap-hold HOME button (e.g. to take a Screenshot) - Android Open Source Project - Issue Tracker - Google Project Hosting -> https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=209470

Surely this shouldn't be some firmware-only OEM implementation.

What do you guys think?

Android already does this since Marshmallow. Hold down the Home button to activate Now On Tap. Then tap the Share button on the bottom left, and it will create a screenshot and give you options as to what you want to do with that screenshot.
