It's all about the screen

Talking about samoleds, is it even possible to produce one 1080p at the moment? Because most of the rumors I heard about using a different technology in gs4 is just because making a samoled 1080p is very difficult

Yeah it's possible ...it wasn't that its difficult, its they were not yet geared up to mass produce it. I don't know if they got it up and running ill find out along with everyone else

At the moment, an amoled screen equals a no go for me. Simple as that.
I like the the true blacks and the battery savings when using a black background. I once managed almost 5 days on a single charge with my HTC desire. The disadvantages however are just too numerous at this point in time (for me at least).
Visibility in full sunlight is not really up to par. The colors, while vibrant, are far from accurate and color balance shifts over time. But the thing that I find most annoying, and the reason I sold my desire after only 6 months, is the pentile subpixel arrangement. It makes text look jagged and certain colors just look like crap (I remember red being the worst offender in this department).
I admit the old desire was pretty low res, but it's also very visible on the current s3 (holding the phone at a normal distance). To me, that screen just doesn't look like it's 720p. For this reason I truly hope the new s4 dumps the amoled screen in favor of a regular lcd.
I suspect RGB amoled screens are better in this respect but I haven't had the chance yet to see one of these in person. The weird subpixel arrangement makes me wary though.

These are just my personal views on the screen debate. Everyone has different priorities so if you like the current crop of amoled displays, more power to you. That's why we have choice :)

Amoled vs SLCD again no brainer, one of the worst features about Samsung phones along with cheap plastic and tinny sounding speakers. Samsung learn from your mistakes don't be stingy.

Well, judging by the leaks and rumors, it looks like the American version will get snapdragon 600 with LCD and the rest of the world an Exynos with the so called pholed display..
Even though it's just rumors, it does make a bit of sense..

Where did you hear that it is getting pholed. I'm surprised they would use that term.

It has always been amazing to me that reviewers don't ever seem to comment on the poor quality of AMOLED when reviewing phones. They will actually make a point to say it looks good. Ugh.

I'm certain the S4 will be AMOLED, but it won't be PenTile. Look at the Note 2, even though it has a relatively low ppi, it looks fine as its not PenTile and uses uniform subpixels.

I just hope the blotches from the display assembly (which is on every AMOLED screen, just look at a black screen with low brightness in a dark room), is going away.

Google "samsung s4 pholed" there's plenty of sources, but whether that is true, we'll see in 4 days

Green pholed is my teams material. Red is already pholed .blue is fluorescent. when all three are phosphorescent power savings will be outstanding.
My company only focuses on device architecture and phosphorescent materials which in the long run will completely replace fluorescent materials in oled's and in turn change lighting industry across the board not just displays but room lighting aswell.

Like it or not OLEDs are your future. Eventually you will all like it when it matures commercially

^if it provides a superior product, so be it. On phones, I've seen nothing that rivals the clarity of LCD.

The problem, is that the masses don't pay attention to the details. They are perfectly happy with mp3 quality, Amoled clarity, and charging mid-day.

It will get better . The technology is still in its infancy. clarity is based on the architecture they use not the OLED. Material itself. This can be seen with ultra high HD oled tvs.
